@ zamim.

Does this mean that MAS is buying back that aircraft from Eaglesomething?

Would not supprise me as the whole circusact is coming to light slowly. To see a circus you normaly have to buy a ticket.

Here on Malaysianwings we have a front row seat, free of charge.

Cheers

3 A/C was returned to PMB as MH has no use for it. 2 were from the failed AlWafeer deal, and aircraft were grabbed by Air Atlanta to serve the Saudi wet lease deal. Mpe was "purchased by EagleX, but eventually fell thru. Mh then re-leased mpe to service the Haj contract. There could have been many ways to make money from the 3 Jumbos but lack of imagination in Mh means lost opportunities.

Life should even be more interesting once MH's A380s are delivered. What will happen to the surplus B744s? Will Eaglexpress resurrect itself? ;)

@ Nik H.

Then, if I understand correctly, if MPE was at EagleX, (purchased from MAS) then MAS leased it from them for the MAS Haj ops?

I have a missing link in this equation, something I am not aware of but need, to make some sense of the above.

Anybody sees where I go off track?

@ flee

If there are some smart cookies left at MAS, they could see their boss, tell him to make the surplus 744's available to them and then make acmi contracts with other carriers, in Indonesia for example, for their Haj and Umrah business.

If they are biznis savvy and know a thing or two about 744 flight ops, this is essential, then they can make more profit for the next five years then all 380's together. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this out.

There are 4 reconfigured B744s in MH. 3 were reconfigured for Al Wafeer, and one was done for MH Charter Dept to run a "reengineered" Jeddah Route proposal. All the 4 aircraft were at the end of their lease agreements with the owner, PMB.

When the AlWafeer deal went tits up, 3 of the aircraft were put up for sale, and the 4th returned to PMB. Air Atlanta grabbed two, and wet leased the aircraft to SV. One stayed with MH. The third was 'purchased' by EagleX. When the deal also went tits up, Mh then released the aircraft for the Haj period. Don't know what plans Mh has for the aircraft after the Haj is over, but the lack of having good knowledgable officers in the wet lease business segment has lost Mh millions in great opportunities.

Hope that's clear art....

I heard this outfit is back to life, any truth? Rumour has it that they are doing a proving flight to KUL-BKI-KUL sometime next week ....

The most logical thing i heard about them is that they will ride on a local airline AOC, to provide Hajj and Umrah flight for coming season. Aircraft planned still 747-400 (9M-MPK most likely?). Not aware if they secured their own AOC. As far as i know in Malaysia there's only 6 or 7 AOC issued for passenger service.

Latest I heard that they are flying (proving flight) tomorrow (10 Aug), most likely KUL-BKI-KUL .......... I wish them all the best this time.

The proving flight was planned yesterday at 1500LT but was cancelled due to some documents pending DCA approval, however, it is resked for another flight this morning at 1000LT. Some "anak2 yatim will be on board"

Any of you guys know who owns or has major stake in Eaglexpress? After the Korean left, it was supposedly that some exMH pilots or Firefly pilots put in some cash.

One just arrived at BKI at 12.30pm just now. All white paint on fuselage apart from the Malaysian Flag with black livery on the tail seems to be 9M-MPD.

Ex MH or Firefly pilots put cash into it?

That would be very brave, if not reckless, to throw away your life savings like that.

Professional pilots normaly do not take bold risks as that is considered "haram" in the aviation industry.

As the saying goes, "there are old pilots and bold pilots but there are none old bold pilots."

Besides that, i think that the avarage salary of malaysian pilots do not cater for an investment as required here to get that, eh, airline, up and running again.

So, if they indeed are going to fly, and given the circumstances how hey have left the bulding recently, and, looking at the picture above, it will need a lot of that "boleh" thing which i am not yet really familiar with, although BC Tam had tried to educate me earlier on the subject in another topic.

The business potential in the perceived market is enormous and one wonders why not some group with real money and real specialists with real on the job knowledge have not tried to pull this off earlier.

If the eagle pulls it of nonetheless this time, bravo, they all will become millionaires.

The plane seems parked at Gate B2 when I saw a black tail from my flight back to BKI on flight AK5112. :)

Ikman - thanks for posting the pictures.
