Cathay Pacific investigates 'aircraft sex photos'

Cathay Pacific investigates 'aircraft sex photos' AFP From: Herald Sun August 08, 2011 12:00AM

CATHAY Pacific said it had launched a ''full investigation'' into photos allegedly showing a flight attendant performing oral sex on a pilot aboard an aircraft of the Hong Kong carrier.

Several pixellated photos of the act have been published in local Chinese-language media, showing the woman in a red outfit resembling Cathay's cabin crew uniform giving oral sex to a man who the reports said was a pilot.

''We are conducting a full investigation into the matter and there are some indications that the female shown in the photos may be a member of our cabin crew,'' a Cathay spokeswoman said in a statement.

''Our investigations are continuing and we have nothing further to add at this stage,'' she said, without commenting on the identity of the man, whose clothing in the published photo did not appear to be a Cathay pilot uniform.

''There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that the act took place inflight, and there are no reasons to believe that any safety breaches have occured,'' the spokeswoman added.

A spokesman for the firm was quoted as saying in separate comments to the South China Morning Post newspaper: ''One of the photos appears to have been taken inside an aircraft cockpit. There is no way to tell conclusively whether the photo was taken while the aircraft was on the ground or airborne.''

Reports in Hong Kong media said the pictures had been widely circulated on an online forum for pilots, and added that the duo in the photos were a couple.

According to the Chinese-language Apple Daily, the pilot - a foreigner - has issued a legal letter to the newspaper saying the photos had been stolen from his personal computer and that he had lodged a police report.

Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong's top airline, has 13,000 staff around the world, including more than 8000 cabin crew and 4000 working in airports, according to its website.

Haha, stereotype. Remember about MH? where a pair of steward and stewardess were caught having sex in the aircraft? As well as QF? where a stewardess was fired for having sex with Ralph Fiennes?

Remember that there used to be a trip report on A.net where some guy claimed that he joined mile high club in crew bunk?

HK's Apple News was the first to break this news last week - according to their report, the F/A is 30y.o. Asian cabin crew chief, who appeared in CX's promotional posters.

The guy is an expat pilot, who took the pics and MP4 using his iPhone. He bragged about the inflight fellation as a spur of the moment thing and showed the pics on his laptop to his "friends" - who then used their iPhone WhatsApp messenger app - without his knowledge - to take a screenshot and emailed it to others' smartphones.

Although CX would not confirm if it is their crew, it is clear that the woman was wearing the recently updated CX uniform (plain red, without yellow inside collars).

Because the antics broke not only company guidelines, but safety rules as well - they'd also reported it to the police.

Statement by Cathay Pacific Chief Executive John Slosar

12 August 2011

The following statement is issued on behalf of Mr. John Slosar, Chief Executive of Cathay Pacific Airways:

“I can confirm that two members of our crew shown in compromising situations in photographs published recently in Chinese-language daily newspapers are no longer employees of the company.

I can also report that we have found no evidence to suggest that the incidents happened on any of our flights while airborne.

We will now produce a report of our findings and pass it to our regulator, the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department. We will continue to co-operate with the CAD as required.

I know that many people were disturbed by the damage this incident caused to the reputation of our cockpit and cabin crews, all of them serious safety and service professionals, and to the airline itself.

I want to assure the public and all of our staff that we conducted a thorough investigation into the circumstances in which the photographs were taken and published.

And I can provide further assurance that our investigation was fair, conducted without fear or favour and with no special consideration or regard for rank or position in the company.

As Chief Executive of Cathay Pacific, let me be crystal clear about one thing: I find any behaviour that recklessly soils the reputation of our company or our team members as totally unacceptable.

That’s why we moved as swiftly as we could to ascertain the facts of the case, and to take decisive action.

I appreciate that some people wish to know more details of our findings.

However, the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance strictly limits us from discussing matters between the company and individual employees.

For this reason, we cannot release information about the specific actions that have been taken by management or individual members of staff, or comment on rumours relating to individuals.

This is the law, and we must and will respect it.

But I am satisfied that the actions we have taken are the right ones and that the lessons learned will make all of us in the company even more conscious of our responsibilities under our own Code of Conduct and the privacy provisions of Hong Kong law.

Finally, I would like to thank the Cathay Pacific team for their understanding and concern as we carried out our inquiries, and also to those who conducted the investigation with diligence, determination and commitment to a fair process.”

Imagine you're John, you call that employee whose special photo above you've seen into your office, looking at her face you say "you're fired"...

I know this is kinda a lame talk, but... I can't imagine what that is like, having to issue a press release to vindicate your company (image) afterwards... :-P

I still wanna fly CX anyway... :-D

Cathay Pacific scandal may delay ad campaign

Cathay Pacific may delay a global marketing campaign, after photographs of crew members allegedly engaging in a sexual act were published.

The airline was due to launch the campaign in September.

Its tagline was "meet the team who go the extra mile to make you feel special".

"We are thinking of holding the campaign back for a little while because the timing doesn't suit us at the moment," a spokeswoman said.

Last week, the Hong Kong-based carrier announced that two crew members photographed in "compromising situations" were no longer working for the company.

It gave no details on their duties for the airline.

A number of photographs were recently published online and in Chinese-language newspapers.

The newspapers claim the woman in the photographs was a flight attendant and the man a pilot, both of whom were working for Cathay Pacific.

They allege the photographs were taken in the cockpit of a Cathay Pacific plane.

Cathay's chief executive, John Slosar, said there no evidence to suggest that the incidents happened on any flights while airborne.

"I find any behaviour that recklessly soils the reputation of our company or our team members as totally unacceptable," Mr Slosar said in a statement.

The airline is in the process of handing over details of its internal investigation to Hong Kong's Civil Aviation Department.

September's marketing launch was supposed to be the second phase of an international campaign.

:D

Wonder what a new tagline would look like -

service so special it will blow the competition away ?

we do not compromise to make you feel special ?

:pardon:

Another breaking news but in different airlines in different situation..

Qantas In-flight film "explains" mysteries of female pleasure

SYDNEY (Reuters) - The in-flight entertainment on some planes run by Australian airline Qantas currently contains a somewhat unusual offering -- a movie that purports to elucidate the mysteries of female sexual pleasure.

The 50-minute French film "The Female Orgasm Explained," which includes naked scenes, is carried on long-haul "Video on Demand" aircraft in the airline's "The Edge" channel -- complete with a warning that it is for mature audiences only.

"In general programs are selected according to quality of content, box office/ratings, topicality and Qantas customer demographics," Qantas said in a statement, adding that programs were screened by their program team before licensing.

"With the Edge, we source programs that are out of the ordinary across all genres."

Airline crews are able to block content to the seats of minors and at the requests of their parents, it added.

The film will be run until November.

The choice of film may be a bit risky given the fact that airlines are usually quite careful about what they show, said Catriona Eider, an associate professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Policy, Sydney University.

"I think sociologically it's interesting they are showing something that has the potential in that quite confined space to have people say 'Oh, what are you watching?' or shows that might be understood as titillating as porn," she said.

But she added that changing social norms mean that off-limit topics have shifted.

"'In Sex and the City', the orgasm is something pretty much spoken in everyday levels. It's no longer the taboo subject it was."

I think I saw something similar last time while traveling on CX. It's not really porn but just that the video had a small part that contains nudity. However have heard about certain airlines also sell porno materials on board?
