MAS Northern Winter 2012 Operational Changes

Recommended Posts

So SQ is increasing frequency and capacity at LHR. QR, EK and EY have all increased capacity and frequency at LHR giving god connections onwards to KUL.

D7 pulls out of London market and yet MH stands still!

Is the double daily A380 plan dead?

Geoff

Not sure its a good move for MH to have double daily A380 for LHR..., can they fill up both A380? and later BA will find it not attractive for them as well to serve KUL (in future :D) due to overcapacity. What they shld do imo, is refurbish their B772 to include F class and serve it on LHR/SYD and maybe MEL as well if they plan to send A380 there. :)

Havce never tried the MAS 777 but the 5 seats in the middle dont appeal to me. Seem to remember a friend visiting from London in October 2000 and they complained how bad the seating was at 5 in the middle hence my previous question.

i think you can avoid the middle seat during the online check -in or pay small fees during your booking... i have no probs with B777 as i prefer the 2 seats option.

I beg to differ. Row 5 Club Class is the best seat available (at least to me) as it is like a private area. Ppl usually don't see there and thus i have the whole section for me (together with the tech crew)

The above posts are referencing the 2-5-2 in Y config - not row 5 in J.

My last smoking flight ever was MH3 22/9/2000 - operated by 9M-MPF

sigh those were the days :)

Wow, you must take your nicotine fix real seriously to be able to recall those details :D

Heck, I can't even remember date of my last flight (last month ? May ?) let alone the flight number and aircraft regn - perhaps if I started smoking, again ...... ?! :p

Downgrading LHR to 772 is quite sensible. The triple 7s are more fuel efficient and judging by the state of the European economy it is a safe move. To sustain double A380s on the KUL-LHR would require 4 A380s round the clock per week. This would spread the A380 too thinly. It is better to distribute the A380 to as many sectors as possible considering MH does not have a solution to its aging 772s anytime soon.

From Here

Malaysia Airlines is retiring Boeing 747 aircraft from its operation, which sees last flight operates MH004/001 Kuala Lumpur – London Heathrow on 24NOV12, which will be downgraded to a 777-200 :angry2:

Schedule:

Kuala Lumpur – London Heathrow Schedule from 25NOV12

MH004 KUL1045 – 1615LHR 772 D

MH002 KUL2355 – 0525+1LHR 380 D

MH003 LHR1050 – 0710+1KUL 380 D

MH001 LHR2200 – 1820+1KUL 772 D

Believe evening departure from LHR i.e. MH1 is more popular with pax to Australia. Doubt MH3 A380 load is healthy. If some bean counters just read from the numbers and unaware of pax demand will declare A380 is too big for LHR-KUL.

Well SQs flights are all A380s now - so they just have to work harder at selling the flights. This is something MH also have to do - its not just about putting on the flights, its also about selling them.

I have an excel that tracks EVERYthing - bit strange for a girl but yeah - people collect postage stamps, i collect this. Missing some registrations from early on, but haven't missed one since Dec 2002. It gets very hazy over time with the amount of travelling i do, so best jot it down :)

that is why MAS should Not even ordered the dugongs - as all along they cant even fill up 2x 744s flights to LHR.

The 388 hype is definitely still there. But unfortunately the new cabin products are kind of a let down and it seems people in the marketing department have not done their best.

I understand their LHR flights were very full last time especially after BA pulled out of KUL. MAS used to have 3 daily slots at LHR, and I think they sold one evening departure slot to AI. That was definitely a big mistake. They should have just leased it out temporarily.

Well SQs flights are all A380s now - so they just have to work harder at selling the flights. This is something MH also have to do - its not just about putting on the flights, its also about selling them.

And soon it will be 3x daily 388 and 1x daily 77W.

Hey, but in this community that is something we should aspire to do - I would too, if I posses the patience tenacity :)

Certainly nothing strange about it, for girls nor boys :D

B772 to Bali anyone?

Kuala Lumpur – Denpasar eff 28OCT12 MH715/716 operates with Boeing 777-200ER instead of Airbus A330-300

So many routes to be taken over by 738... a plane that comes with even less seat pitch in EY compared to their 734

And how are they doing on the KUL/CGK route actually ? There are more flights between KUL/CGK compared to KUL/BKK now. Last time most of their CGK flights had horrible loads... Or this is their attempt to get some loyal SIA passengers to defect to them ?

BC, thats why flight memory or flight diary is useful... track down the registration and your flight records :)

Nerd alert ! Nerd Alert! :)

My wife will never do that. She even finds me nerdy for remembering those "nonsense" details! She won't even bother to differentiate the plane models from one to another. I wonder how your female peers would receive your specialization in this area?

SIA operates a daily red-eye flight from CAN back to SIN too... with a 333 of course. They have another daytime flight but that operates only 5 times a week. It works for SQ apparently but not sure if it'd work for MAS too...
