Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted May 29, 2012 Did receive any message from Agoda as yet; how about Lilac Relax Residence, which is next-door and 'very good 8.9'...? Cost in Euro 35 p/n Queens Garden is a 7.4 and the Phoenix is a 7.7 according Agoda... No idea where Building 1 is, as opposed to Building 2; read somewhere, though, it's NOT at the same address and not even close to Riverview Don't know about you, but I think it's all 'fishy' and prefer to move to either Lilac or Phoenix, just to be safe !!! Josh T 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2012 I'm happy with whatever you guys decide. I can cancel my booking and get a full refund, then I can book at the hotel where we finally decide to stay.
Prompong J. 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2012 I took this oic from building 2's room . http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6607789&nseq=
flee 5 Report post Posted May 30, 2012 The hotel has been under a renovation for a Building 1which is a riverview, but the hotel will move all guests to Building 2 where is not under any renovation or construction. From this, I gather that the hotel will honour the Agoda bookings. And since Prompong has shown to us that Building 2 is OK for spotting, I am planning not to cancel my booking and go ahead with it. Waiping 12 Report post Posted May 30, 2012 Got news today. Since their alternative hotel is just next to Queen's, and slightly higher rating too, I think I'll move there. Dear WAI PING NG, Due to certain technical issue, the original hotel could not confirm your current booking and we may need to relocate your accommodation to alternative hotel as below: The Phoenix Bangkok http://www.agoda.com/asia/thailand/bangkok/the_phoenix_hotel_bangkok.html 3 star hotel (same star rating with original hotel) Very close to original hotel, less than 1 minute walk Newer hotel and nicer hotel condition Hotel also offers free airport transfer Please refer to the link below for more information and get back to us. http://www.agoda.com/asia/thailand/bangkok/the_phoenix_hotel_bangkok.html Otherwise, you may also be able to cancel this booking without charge and submit another booking via Agoda website for hotel of your choice. Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted June 10, 2012 Thanks a lot for sharing, Prompong; at least, it get's us the idea... How do we ask access to the roof: reception ? Guys, Hotel website says free shutter (!) bus service available: do you have to phone them, or do they stop regularly at Arrivals ? Or do you've to send them an email with arrival details ? How did you book this ? Hope to see you all in 3 weeks' time...
Chaity 1 Report post Posted June 11, 2012 Hey guys, enjoy your spotting and MWIngs anniversary up in BKK despite some hotel booking issue. I was unable to join you guys but I am sure all of you will have lots of fun there !
Hon Kit 3 Report post Posted June 11, 2012 Thanks for the pic Prompong! Pieter, was asked to I emailed them by Agoda. I emailed the hotel last week regarding my flight details and till now , no reply from them.
flee 5 Report post Posted June 11, 2012 Thanks for your warm greetings, Chaity! I hope you can also help send the "light" to us! I am not so sure about airport transfers to the hotel - I suppose there might be counters and/or representatives around the arrival hall. One thing that I have noticed in Thailand is not to panic in the arrival hall taxi operator frenzy. Just take your time to look around before comitting your choice. There is still time to email and wait for a reply from the hotel.
flee 5 Report post Posted June 11, 2012 There is another piece of not so good news. One of the runways is to be partially closed for resurfacing! Wow, so many obstacles to our trip! http://www.bangkokpost.com/business/aviation/295505/aot-cuts-flights-during-runway-repair
Hon Kit 3 Report post Posted June 11, 2012 Francis, 1 runway closure may not be a bad news. As all aircraft will be landing and departing on 1 runway so we won't miss some of the action. If the spot is about halfway down, we can get landing and rotation shots. If I'm not mistaken, they're closing east runway . East runway should be 19L/01R. The hotel that we are staying is for 19R. So I don't think we are affected in the bad way.
flee 5 Report post Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) Hon Kit, Well, it means all landings will be made only on the good runway. Only narrow bodies are taking off from the runway that is being resurfaced. Yes, it may mean that things are a little simpler as all landings will come in on one runway only. Edited June 11, 2012 by flee
