BC Tam 2 Report post Posted October 31, 2011 ..and a month later goes out of business just like the rest of those so call state-owned regional airliner.. You are aware Hornbill Skyways has been around for quite a few years already ? Nothing scheduled so far though, as far as I know But the one that seem most active here in Sabah/Sarawak appear to be Layang Layang Aerospace, not Hornbill nor Sabah Air. I could be wrong though

Melaka Air to fly to Penang, Kota Baru KUALA LUMPUR: Melaka Air will operate domestic services from Malacca to Penang and Kota Baru by year end, the Dewan Rakyat was told. Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri said the flights, operated with cooperation of Firefly, will boost Malacca International Airport in Batu Berendam. "The only airline using the airport is Wings Air which operates three weekly flights from Pekan Baru, Indonesia to Malacca since last year," he told Sim Tong Him (DAP-Kota Melaka) who wanted to know of efforts to enhance the airport and the traffic volume. Abdul Rahim said the airport handled 21,687 passengers until December last year. Malacca signed agreements with Asean airlines allowing Melaka Air to operate flights to Asean destinations with unlimited frequency. "The airport also gives Passenger Service Charge discount of RM26 to international passengers," he added. Ikman Ikreza 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2011 Finally by today on 11.11.11, Mohd Ali Rustam's dream came true... Melaka Air Performs Inaugural Flight To Medan MELAKA, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- Syarikat Penerbangan Melaka Air (Melaka Air) today performed the inaugural flight from the Melaka International Airport in Batu Berendam to Medan on a ATR 72-500 aircraft. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, who launched the flight, said Melaka Air aims to fly 25,000 passengers in the first operational year to boost the usage of the newly-renovated Melaka International Airport. He said Melaka Air has been given five months till March next year to gauge public response for the flight. "From there, we'll decide whether to continue the flight," he told reporters when launching the inaugural flight. He performed the flight gimmick at 11.11am sharp to mark today's auspicious date -- 11.11.2011. The flight, passing through Subang and Penang, flew domestic tourists in the package to visit Medan, Indonesia's third biggest city. They will return on Sunday. From Nov 21, Melaka Air will fly twice weekly, on every Mondays and Fridays, to Subang and Medan. The one-way fare is RM60 to Subang and RM250 to Medan. "If public response is encouraging, the flight will be expanded to Bandung, Palembang and Batam and to Penang and Kota Baharu. "We also aim to fly to major destinations in Asean countries," Mohd Ali said. The chief minister also said Melaka Air would acquire Puteri Holidays Sdn Bhd, to be known as Melaka Holidays Sdn Bhd, to woo more tourists to Melaka via air. He said flights on Melaka Air can be booked online at www.fireflyz.com or www.yayasanmelaka.gov.my Since the Melaka International Airport was refurbished and upgraded in February last year, only "Wings Air" was operating thrice weekly flights on the Pekan Baru-Melaka sector. -- BERNAMA Source : http://www.bernama.com.my/bernama/v5/newsbusiness.php?id=626156

I believe the 0820 is SZB-MKZ then 1305 is MKZ-SZB, then we can see the ATR route pattern is correct.

alberttky 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2011 KUCHING: A proposal for direct flights between Kuching and Malacca to boost the tourism industry between the two has been given the thumbs-up. Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said the route had been in discussion for sometime now, and it was high time for it to be realised to curb connectivity woes between the state and Peninsular Malaysia. “Back then the Malacca airport was small. It has since been extended and Malacca now has its own airline. “Sarawak and Malacca complement each other with rich historical tourist attractions. “We will set up packages which complement both states,” he told reporters here yesterday. Johari also revealed that his ministry would send officials to Malacca for further discussions. On Friday, Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said he was keen to see the route become a reality, possibly with a frequency of three times a week. He said the proposed flights to Kuching, which would take an hour, could be launched anytime soon if a Sarawak agency could take up an equity in the proposed joint operations. “If Sarawak wants to join Melaka Air, we can start (Malacca-Kuching service) next month,” he was quoted as saying after witnessing an agreement signing ceremony between Yayasan Melaka and Pelita Holdings Sdn Bhd. Melaka Air Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Malacca government, was established in June last year. It now leases one aircraft from Firefly for its scheduled services. According to its website, Melaka Air has, for the beginning of its operation, selected six destinations — Padang/Bukit Tinggi, Batam, Palembang, Medan, Penang and Kota Baru. Ali said Melaka Air now served Malacca-Subang, and Malacca-Medan routes, and it offered special tour packages for tourists visiting Malacca http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/11/27/sarawak/9984879&sec=sarawak -------------------------------------------- Let's see how long it'll last if it does get the green light.
