Haha.. Isaac, the ambassador of Gong Lung (Dragonair). I can't remember their staff being attentive. Their a/c is on the boring side though... A320, A321 and A333....ZZzzzzzZZZZzzz....... :lazy:

I've flown on KA 6 times to date (yup, 6 times already since September last year) and because my gran was travelling on a wheelchair, all the cabin crews took care of her so well. All of them always rushed to help us whenever they see us coming in. Those in the rear galley quickly came to us too to offer us blankets and pillows. Big thumbs up to them.

CX on the other hand... well, let just say that are more bad apples amongst them compared to KA 8) The down side about KA 320 is that there is no IFE... just like MAS 734.

QF on the other hand offered very minimal assistance to us when we brought our baby on board. They don't come and check. QF even failed to check in our baby. When confronted with their mistakes, no admission to that and in turn blamed us for screwing up the booking (WTF!). As a last resort because of the flight was pretty much full, they offered us either to sit separately OR sit together in row of three and hold the baby for up to 9 hours from MEL - HKG. How about this!? On both flights... the IFE is so old that it needs restarting several times through out the flight and one flight simply didn't have IFE cause it failed to work!

SQ and EK did much better job as far as attentiveness goes. I swear I will never fly Quick and Nasty the Australian Style Again, unless it is a free flight. Looking forward to my VS flight onboard the A340-600 next between SYD-HKG!!!

If MH are willing to keep their customers between BKI-HKG, BKI-KHH and BKI-TPE. They should dispatch the B737-800 soon, especially the ones with the PTV. Don't know if they are been tight arse about KUL or simply failed to see where their money generates from (particular BKI-HKG). Are they still fly to ICN from BKI using the 9M-MX* series birds?.

People said flying is much more enjoyable in the 70s/80s but there is no advance IFE on that time =)

Things change. Either we adapt or we get left behind...

QF has the Rockwell Collins IFE on their non-refurbished 744/744ER and 333. It's probably the worst and most unreliable IFE in the world.

MAS only flies to HKG and TPE now from BKI. Flights to KHH, ICN, NRT, KIX, MNL, CEB and PER have all been permanently suspended.

But in those days you could turn up 30 mins before an international flight and still get on; no worries about waiting in a security queue for hours! Also, there were smoking sections and the book selection at the store in the airport wasn't all about 'self help'. ........................am I getting old??

MH B734 will most likely be phased out by middle of 2013.

Think he meant the incident in Miri where the left (or was it right) gear collapsed or something.

Just passed by MAS Engineering hangar. Saw at least three A330s with titles and logo removed. Seems like their retirement is gathering pace.

Has this been posted somewhere before?

Malaysian Airline System Bhd. (MAS) will accelerate the exit of Boeing Co. (BA) wide-body jets from its fleet and look at ordering the upgraded A330 model announced by Airbus SAS yesterday, Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said.

The carrier’s nine remaining Boeing 747 jumbos are likely to be stood down by the end of November rather than in March as planned earlier, while its 777-200s will be gone within three years, Ahmad Jauhari said in an interview at the Farnborough air show.

Malaysian Air will standardize its twin-aisle fleet on Airbus’s A380 and the smaller A330, with an upgraded version of the latter having sufficient range for a network where the longest route -- Kuala Lumpur-London -- is only 12.5 flying hours, Ahmad Jauhari said. The carrier has 15 A330s on order, about half of which have been delivered, and options for 10 more which could be converted as upgraded models, he said.

“We’ll be looking at Airbus (EAD)’s announcement to see if it can do the job of the 777s,” Ahmad Jauhari said. “We’d love to have new models like the 787 or the A350, and maybe one day we will, but right now we need to simplify the fleet and operate four types of plane instead of maybe six or seven.”

Adding 400 nautical miles of range to the A330 will allow it to fly around 6,000 miles, allowing nonstop service on routes such as London to Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Whereas Airbus once had to strengthen the wing to boost maximum takeoff weight, making a plane heavier, it can now use the fly-by-wire computer system to adjust the wing for higher loads.
