BC Tam 2 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 Just a thought ...... All those 772's and 774's heading to the scrap yard eternal rest, I can only assume it's PMB that will have to absorb the write off costs (less residual value) ? So MH will not be burdened (accounting wise) ? And how often are numbers from PMB up for scrutiny ?

Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 The latest fleet list of MH Group of airlines, as per Going Places April 2013: Hope to identify the 2 B744, the missing 17th B772, the 4 A330 and the 13 B734 from MH's fleet. So I guess it is safe to assume that the missing 17th B772 from MH fleet list is MRK. Any insider news on why this particular frame is being decommissioned a bit too soon from the rest? Syukri 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 Good bye -MRK? Gasp! http://hnlrarebirds.blogspot.com.au/2013/04/ex-malaysia-airlines-9m-mrk.html -MRK is end-of-lease, may destined to new owner or storage. There are currently 15 772 in MH fleet makes me wonder, where's another one?
zamim 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 -MRK is end-of-lease, may destined to new owner or storage. There are currently 15 772 in MH fleet makes me wonder, where's another one? MRI is taken off from schedule planning. However, it might be reactivated for umrah, if B747 MPM stuck in JED is still unserviceable. Plan to bring MPM by 27 April. The reactivation and lease costs might work against it though.
Peter Smith 1 Report post Posted April 27, 2013 MRK (along with MRL - And MRJ iirc) had their crew rest areas removed a few years ago for use on shorter routes (PER/PEK, etc) most of which now belong in the A333 route network. The higher number of cycles coupled with a general unsuitability for the longer haul routes 777's typically ply was quite possibly a contributing factor. As a side note, the removal of the crew rest area allowed for increased cargo volume in the rear hold by 4 standard LD3 baggage cans (or about 6t)

flee 5 Report post Posted June 5, 2013 Not yet. Another flight test was carried out today. Expect the aircraft to leave probably by the third week of June. Thanks. Also saw MKA on test last evening, presumably also on preparations to leave the fleet as well?
Ahmad M 1 Report post Posted June 5, 2013 Thanks. Also saw MKA on test last evening, presumably also on preparations to leave the fleet as well? That is right. 9M MKA was supposed to leave for Tupelo on the 15th of June. However the buyer recently indicated they are not ready to receive the aircraft yet so it is now delayed with the new date yet to be determined.

Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted June 21, 2013 Only routine D-check No refurbishment Wonder what livery will go on the skin...if a repaint is required, it will be dumb to have the old livery repainted...but this is MH, it can do dumb things, like the repainting of the FY 738s into the old livery when the swoosh livery has been launched months before that.
