MAS Current Fleet Withdrawal Thread

Recommended Posts

You'd probably want to avoid the others in Pakistan too. They dont exactly have the best fleet of aircrafts. MH B734s were relatively well maintained. Had a great safety record

Fortunately, N104K ex 9M-MME, is now heading for Shaheen Air International. It was caught doing test flight at Miami International Airport on March 23rd, 2012.

According to Pakistan Aviation forum, Shaheen Air Interntional will induct 12 B737-400s:

Shaheen Air advertisement in today's (February 19) newspaper celebrating introduction of Boeing 737-400 in airline's fleet.

According to information in a local newspaper, Shaheen Air will acquire a total of 12 Boeing 737-400 aircraft and delivery of all these aircraft will be completed in December 2012. Aircraft will be delivered one per month.

Boeing 737-4H6 (registration N829AR) delivered to Shaheen Air in January is first of these 12 Boeing 737-400s.

Shaheen Air Boeing 737-400 is configured to carry 164 passengers.

Btw, I think before taking photograph for this advertisement, flight attendant should have been asked to remove that identification card tag, the tag is looking odd. The advertisement also shows cabin of Boeing 737-400 recently acquired by Shaheen Air.

The advertisement reads:

"Change of Fleet

Introducing Boeing 737-400s

Now Serving Our Valued Customers

Experience unparallel in-flight hospitality with luxurious interior and your own comfort zone with extra leg space. Sit back and enjoy the delicious cuisine served by our well groomed and smiling flight attendants."

Apparently AP-BJN (ex-9M-MQC and N829AR) got involved in a landing accident and the end result was not good...

This looks like the same problem as the B734 that had a gear collapse in KCH. MH was lucky it collapsed on the apron and not the runway.

Poor -MQC. I think they may not fix the aircraft as it is 18 years old plus. MH will not have any problem in selling another B734 to Shaheen Air. :p

Could it be MMR, the one which involved in a landing gear incident in KCH?

Any verdict / official report on the incident ?

I wonder how MPH got to TLV - most definitely not from KUL?

I think MH did sold one B744 (MPC Kuantan?) to an Israeli company in the past.

That's a surprise!

PMB owned 744 Papa Delta going to Eagle Air Express month end or May. I think it is sold not leased.

PMB is also disposing 330 Kilo Delta. Not sure they have got a buyer.

According to PIA Aviation forum, Shaheen Air International may bid for MH A330-322 9M-MKD. They are now seeking A330 pilots.

Wanna bet how long MKD will last while with Shaheen? :p

Nevertheless quite a big jump from the 737s they currently have.

Guest Michael

It seems the fleet renewal is going according to plan so hopefully this will bring in more revenue for the carrier.

With much sadness, Feeder Air F-50 SX-NET (ex MH, Pelangi Air, Firefly 9M-MGK) suffered substantial damage in a landing accident at Wau Airport (WUU), South Sudan. The fifty passengers were not injured. The five crew members sustained minor injuries.

Flight 360 departed Juba Airport (JUB) at 08:00 on a domestic service to Wau. It suffered a landing accident at 09:45. The nose gear and left hand main gear collapsed.

Judging by the age and damage on the aircraft, I highly doubt that it will be repaired. Goodbye, 9M-MGK...You had served us well....

9M-MPB and 9M-MPF are stored at Subang Airport, as spotted by Keat Siong. 9M-MPD was spotted at KLIA when A380 was delivered few days back. Not sure if it is currently doing Haj flight now

Not really sure about A330-200 fleet and B737-400 9M-MMI.

On a side note, B737-4H6 ex 9M-MQH > Nok Air HS-DDJ > now with Batavia Air PK-YVS.

I wonder if companies like Transmile will buy a few of the ex-MH B734s and convert them to freighters. These should give better operating economics than the ageing B722s.

Aren't the A332s still being used? I think MH is using the A332 to XMN, for example.

Of the B744s, only 9M-MPK/L/M/N/O/P are being used regularly for flights to SYD and LHR. These 6 planes will be directly replaced by the A380s, I assume.

On Monday I saw 1 A330 and 3 B734 at MAS hangar KLIA with wau logo removed. In fact the B734 is a rarity at MTB nowadays.

Thanks Jahur for the update. I think 9M-MKC is out of commission as well.

MH should be retiring older aircraft one-on-one basis with the delivery of new aircraft, it only picked up now. MH currently has one of the oldest fleet among the biggies in South East Asia.
