KUL 32R in 2011

Recommended Posts

Saw AQE a few times at BKI. Since a few of the older A320 from AK were transferred to QZ maybe that's the reason AQE was here.

Apparently, PK-AXQ (MSN 4582) is also back in AK's fleet and this might now be 9M-AQF. I am not sure if it is.

9M-AFK (MSN 2885), formerly with WOW livery, is now PK-AXS.

Looks like AK is only selling aircraft that are over 5 years old to QZ.

Next two due to be transferred to QZ from AK are 9M-AHK (MSN 3486) and 9M-AHN (MSN 3549). Looks like these two are younger airframes, about 3½ years old.

Regarding these 'new' AirAsia A320s, would it be possible for you KUL spotters to note which flights they are operating when you see them so we can get the hex codes tied up?

I strongly suspect that hex 750272 is 9M-AQE, the former Indonesia one but thus far been unable to confirm it due to lack of sightings. For some strange reason the hex is also pinging FY flights so there could be an FY aircraft with a miscoded transponder set to 750272 as well. These are the latest captures of 750272 if anyone can ID them please:

There is another new AirAsia hex code on the scene now as well, 75027E. I suspect this could be the former Air Berlin A320 D-ABFX, msn 4917 which left European shores on 15 Nov enroute KUL. I have no info on the new Malaysian reg of this one - surely you guys must have seen it by now and can fill us in? Logically it would be 9M-AQF but this is assigned to a future new build A320, msn 4969.

Latest captures of 75027E for identifying please :

Rob, 750272 is 9M-AQE and 75027E is 9M-AQF.

Flee, you pretty much got the connections right.

Flee & Sri. Ramani K. thanks for the info but how did you come to tie up 75027E to 9M-AQF please? Sri. Ramani K. do you have any pics of 9M-AQF please? According to my sources this is supposed to be a new build A320 from Toulouse, msn 4969.

To summarise the AK-QZ fleet transfers:

MSN 2881 – 9M-AFJ (From 25-10-2011, PK-AXJ)

MSN 2885 – 9M-AFK (From Nov 2011, PK-AXS)

MSN 3182 – 9M-AFX (From 3-8-2009, PK-AXD)

MSN 3486 – 9M-AHK

MSN 3549 – 9M-AHN

QZ returned the following to AK:

MSN 4571 - PK-AXP (now 9M-AQE)

MSN 4582 - PK-AXQ (now 9M-AQF)

I think that it may be premature for us to see the ex-Air Berlin MSN 4969 as it was only delivered as a white tail on 15 November. It would take a bit longer to finish off the paintwork, wouldn't it?

2881 is PK-AXR not J ;) . And the ex Air Berlin is 4917 ;) ;) . 4969 was going to be new build 9M-AQE but this will no doubt take up a different rego now. :)

Oops, I stand corrected!

I wonder how I will cope when the fleet is 500 aircraft! ;)

Reboot!:

MSN 4917 will become 9M-AQJ.

MSN 4969 is now carrying test reggo D-AVVB. Still not delivered as yet.

Greetings, my fellow MWingers,

I was at 32L with most of the spotters who are anxiously waiting to witness the inaugural arrival of Emirates A380 to KUL. I somehow manage to catch a glimpse of this giant with 3 nautical miles to spare and then I realised, she's heading to 32R! Got myself into the car and sped my way to the Observation Hill (by now I already know I will miss the landing action).

These photos aren't the best of my shots, but it was satisfying nonetheless. Happy viewing! Trust my fellow spotters will post their shots soon ;)

Arrived just as scheduled, exactly 2:55 PM!

I think it is parked at the same usual gate when the 77W was used for EK346. EK408/409 (DXB-KUL-MEL) always parked at gate C22.

If I know it will land on 32R, the roundabout going towards the LCCT should've been a good location for spotting.....

Is there any other reason for her to use 32R? Is 32L somehow not suitable for A380 landing? Just wondering.

According to a friend, since EK's gate is on the east of the satelite, 32R/14L would be a better choice and also preventing the brakes from overheating.

Could be due to special reception being held at C27... thus allowing those welcoming the aircraft to view the landing....

As for 32L for A380, there shouldn't be any problem.... remember SQ's training flights few years ago?...
