Tan Son Nhat - Sai Gon airport pictures

Tuan Khiem,

"Cam on" for the nice series of pictures...I was wondering already what the ATR72 would be operated by which airline, as never seen before: now I know - Cambodia Angkor...but why still VN registration ? Was able to take a shot of her this morning as well as then Fokker 70 (finally).

Mai and I were almost flying 16409 last week, but decided to 'wait' for the 18206 instead, giving us better connections at BKK...needless to say, this is an awesome picture of the Queen of the Skies - esp. in the BR colours !!!

Love the SQ 777 and KE 744 nightshots too.

Hope to meet you before we depart back to AMS on 05/06aug :pardon: (see your PM and SMS)

Fantastic to see the Vietnamese participation on MW here !!! :yahoo:

Vu Loc,

Unfortunately, we were refused to board KLM to SIN, as flight full !!!

We changed to BKK and arrived same morning on TG 333 (HS-TED)...did you take a shot of her as well ?

Cheers,

Pieter...

SQ Star Alliance some more !!! :yahoo:

Would like to thank Khiem, Loc + Kanehoshi for their hospitality/meals/drinks/motobike-rides a lot and for showing me some of the SGN photo-spots ! :good:

Really appreciated all your help and enthusiasm; amazing to see the 'fanatism' of the VNAS group !!! :pardon:

(esp. for picking me up at 05.40am  )

Will post some pictures here, once I'm home...

Return now changed via BKK as well (see signature), as SIN flights heavily overbooked (SIN guys: take note :sorry: )

Keep those great SGN-pictures coming !!! ;)

Hi Pieter & all,

Could anyone who has visited Vietnam advise:

Best Hotels or accommodation to stay at near airport.

Best means of getting around the airport to spot & photograph.

How many days needed.

Best time of year to visit etc.

Any 'other' aircraft museums or similiar worth seeing.

Having seen some of the pictures posted on the forum, it is now on

our radar of places to consider visiting.

Cheers Greg

Xin chao Greg, As you may know Tansonnhat Airport is quite near to the city center, just 7km far away. You can take a taxi in 15' in the normal traffic. So the best hotel is located at he city's heart, anyway there are plenty of good accommodations next to the airport also. The best means of transportation for spotting is a motobike, I suppose. The best time to spot is dry season starts from late November until April. It depends on your trip planing and your expectation. In Hochiminh city there are at least 3 museum you should visit. Just let us know before your trip, my friends and I will try our best to assist you Greg.

Regards from Hochiminh city,

Tuan Khiem,

Any idea what's the C17 Globemaster III doing in SGN?

Carrying their Senator Jim Webb to visit five-nation tour of Asia to explore opportunities to advance U.S. interests in the region - According to press released.

With 49% share from Vietnam Airlines, almost personel for setting up Cambodia Angkor Air to go into service, VN is expanding her business in Indochina.

Amazing that paint work was finished in SGN

It's economic and world safe record, much more profitable in yeild for below 200NM range.

Three color schemes in 1 management board.

Vietnam Airlines' new livery is one of the best liveries I have seen. I hope they can complete the livery replacement process sooner.

It seems many of the domestic aircraft are still wearing the old livery.
