Astounding, if true !

That such protectionist tactics are still being practised :angry:

The various ministries, Tourisn and Transport in this case, should really get their policies synchronized

I suspect a heck of a lot of resources being wasted via overseas promotions (well, we certainly have a very well travelled minister !) but eventually results not fortcoming due to these boo-boo's :rolleyes:

Kuching is also affected, China Southern Airlines from Beijing has also been cancelled for 2011 Chinese New Year...from what I heard la...

Why BKI need to close between 0100 to 0500 hour? Complain from nearby resorts?

 

Most tourists arrival are seasonal and best served by chartered flight. As most tourists spend more on the ground e.g. shopping and accommodation than air fare, denying income of other business sectors for local airline is ‘penny wise pound foolish’ :sorry:

 

Fairly typical for the gomen to pledge one thing and practice another :angry: :(

Correct, that is what we are being fed through the (official) media :)

So only four hours worth of work possible per day apparently

Though I wonder why when the project first commenced, it was quite ok for them to work day and night, at some feverish pace

Must be some newly formulated health and safety rules coming into play since ;)

If this ITC thing is for purpose of protecting Malaysian carriers, would be interesting to know if Captain Nik and his team has since approached the affected industry players with intention of filling up vacuum left by the now-no-more chinese charters :)

Looks confirmed that the Chinese airlines are no more interested :(

Those (tourism $$$ generating) Chinese tourists will presumably be flown elsewhere, perhaps Bali, Cebu, Phuket etc, where they will still spend their money, only that Malaysian hospitality players will not be amongst the recipients

And when the year's figures are tallied up, someone will raise the alarm that our tourist arrivals is on the decline - and there will then be need for intensive fact finding missions and extensive promotional campaigns overseas to try lure the 'lost' tourists back :rolleyes:
