TEMERLOH: A Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) helicopter monitoring highway traffic is believed to have crashed in an oil palm plantation in Kampung Kuala Kaung, near Lanchang here, Thursday, injuring the four personnel on board, police said.

Temerloh police deputy chief Supt Zundin Mahmood said the helicopter was monitoring traffic flow on the East Coast Expressway when the incident happened at about 9.30am.

The four personnel on board were injured, one of them seriously, he said.

The identities of the personnel and the cause of the accident have yet to be established.

"The police have yet to ascertain the type of helicopter and it is not known if the aircraft crashed or made an emergency landing," he said. - Bernama

Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur, Foong Pek Yee reports that Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung has ordered an immediate investigation on the incident.

He said the Department of Aviation had been notified to conduct the investigation.

Chor said the helicopter was operating the Kuala Lumpur-Kuantan sector, and its job was to help to save lives in the event of a road accident during this festive season.

The Fire and Rescue Department was among the agencies involved in this Ops Raya, he said, adding that the injured had been admitted to the Temerloh Hospital.

Look like Augusta AW139

I believe it should be the A109. I believe Bomba don't operate the AW139.

Yerp..that's the A109, their AW139 does not have the bird image on the fuselage.

Bomba's 2 new AW139s arrived Port Klang on 22nd May 2010. Reported that the AW139s(9M-BOC&BOD)did flight tests at Alor Star last month and will soon be stationed at Bertam Fire And Rescue Department Air Unit, Penang.
