Shayda Bastani arrested at Sydney Airport

Recommended Posts

THE fiancee of Fadi Ibrahim has been charged over an alleged murder conspiracy after being arrested at Sydney Airport last night.

Shayda Bastani, who was carrying a first class ticket, was detained about 5pm before she was due to board a Malaysia Airlines flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Ms Bastani was questioned by police and later charged her over an alleged murder plot to avenge the non-fatal shooting of Fadi, 35.

The 23-year-old, who became engaged to notorious Kings Cross figure John Ibrahim's younger brother on Valentine's Day, told police she was pregnant while being questioned.

Police allege Fadi, Bastani and four other men plotted to kill John Macris, a former Ibrahim family associate who they allegedly believed was behind the attempted assassination of Fadi last June.

The case against Bastani will centre on the evidence of a witness and a single piece of forensic material, it is believed.

Bastani saved Fadi's life when he was shot five times as they sat in a $500,000 black Lamborghini outside his Castle Cove home.

Bastani was shot in the thigh.

Yesterday she was driven from the airport to Mascot Police Station, while Fadi remained at home because of an 8.30pm curfew, one of the conditions of his bail.

Ms Bastani's relatives and Ibrahim family members arrived at the station as she was charged with one count of conspiracy to murder.

Bail was refused and she was taken to Waverley Police Station last night to be held for court today.

This organised crime has become a subject of Underbelly TV series, which is critically successful in Australia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underbelly_%28TV_series%29

The best way to fly from Australia (their country of residence) and Lebanon (their country of origin) has for some time been Malaysia Airlines.

Yes, and all other Middle Easterners (Israel excluded). Before EK, QR, EY and other Gulf carriers became so powerful, many Arabs chose MH.
