Scoot to fly 5 time a week between Singapore and Melaka from 23 October 2024

Scoot, Singapore Airlines' low-cost subsidiary, announced on Aug. 6 that it will launch flights to two new Southeast Asian destinations — Melaka and Kertajati — in September and October 2024.

This is due to Scoot receiving its third and fourth Embraer E190-E2 aircraft in Singapore in September and October 2024.

The third aircraft is named Jalan-Jalan, and the fourth is named Travel Kaki.

The two new destinations will bring Scoot's network to 72 destinations.

Scoot will offer flights to and from Kertajati (Greater Bandung) in Indonesia twice a week from Sep. 28, 2024.

The airline will offer Maleka flights five times a week from Oct. 23, 2024.

The sale of tickets to Kertajati and Melaka will begin on Aug. 6 via Scoot's website and mobile app.

All-in economy class fares start from S$92 to Kertajati and S$69 to Melaka, inclusive of taxes.

"We remain confident in the demand for air travel and invite our customers to 'Jalan-Jalan' and explore new destinations with their 'Travel Kakis', immerse themselves in local cultures and create more memorable travel experiences with us," said Scoot's CEO Leslie Thng.

Another new destination

Scoot announced new daily flights to Subang, Malaysia, on Jul. 18, 2024.

Flights to Subang will begin on Sep. 1, 2024, and the airport is located just 28km from Kuala Lumpur, providing travellers with an alternate route to the capital.

Forgot to add, he also mentioned Kuwait Airways. They just quit KUL last year, not sure if they are keen to return though.

Royal Jordanian won't be possible due to political situation at the region. Gulf Air? They did announced service resumption in July 2020, but did not happened due to the pandemic.

9air, the budget arm of Juneyao Airlines in China, inaugural flight landed at KUL last night. Flight from Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport (KWE).

Philippines AirAsia NW24 International Service Changes

https://www.aeroroutes.com/eng/240924-z2nw24int

NW24 Written By Jim Liu
Published at 1800GMT 24SEP24

Philippines AirAsia (Z2) since late-August 2024 suspended all service to China, with last Manila – Shenzhen service operated on 29AUG24.

During Northern winter 2024/25 season, following service will not be offered, as it has been gradually removed in the last few weeks.

Cebu – Shenzhen Planned 3 weekly A320 service resumption from 27OCT24 removed
Manila – Guangzhou Last flight 29MAY24. Planned 1 daily A320 resumes on 27OCT24 removed
Manila – Shanghai Pu Dong Last flight 28MAY24. Planned 3 weekly A320 resumes on 27OCT24 removed
Manila – Shenzhen Last flight 29AUG24

The airline is also suspending following service:
Manila – Kuala Lumpur Last flight on 21OCT24

Other international service changes, based on schedule listing comparison 18AUG24 vs 22SEP24):
Manila – Bangkok Don Mueang eff 27OCT24 Reduce from initially planned 18 weekly to 14 weekly
Manila – Seoul Incheon eff 27OCT24 Reduce from 14 to 10 weekly

Previously reported changes:
Manila – Nagoya eff 29OCT24 3 weekly A320, new route

Does MAHB calculate Philippines AirAsia Z2 as a separate airline or do they lump all AirAsia entities as one airline?

Did United Airlines Just Drop A Hint That It Will Start Flying To Kuala Lumpur?

I read that magazine and just thought it was just a skyline typo or something, but they are very good at giving hints at future flights. Having that said, I think it'd be very far fetched for UA to start a non-stop US-KUL flight. I can't see that happening unless one of the major corporations signed a contract with UA for nonstop flights to KUL. US-MY traffic is pretty thin.

I don't believe this is accurate. No flights were loaded for sale.

UA dropped BKK on March 2014 after 29 years of uninterrupted operation, acquired the flying rights via Pan Am acquisition in 1985. The termination was due to the route’s underperforming financial results and in response to the airline's move to shift aircraft capacity to more lucrative routes elsewhere, also because UA lost the government contract to DL in carrying government officials. DL later also dropped the same route in 2017.

If UA is really keen in flying into more SEA destinations from SFO/ LAX, MNL would be higher in the priority list, given the Filipino diaspora in Sunshine state, BKK may have a shot again, but not KUL since UA can channel its pax via NH at NRT and SQ via SIN.

UA already has a daily 77W SFO-MNL for almost a year now and I don't think there are a lot of Filipinos in Florida.

An article from the Dayak Daily mentioned that there'll be 20 new routes/flights to/from Malaysia has been introduced or will be introduced till end of 2024. A few of them are announced like BA to KUL, Scoot to SZB/MKZ, MH to DAD, AK BKI to SGN/MDC etc. Some of the rather out-of-nowhere routes seems to be the ones introduced or will be introduced by China Eastern (MU) including KUL-Wenzhou (WNZ), Xian (XIY), Yuncheng (YCU), Changchun (CGQ), and Harbin (HRB). Other than XIY and HRB, I had to look up where those cities are. And another airline (no mention if it's Malaysian or Chinese) plans to introduce TFU/KMG-KUL next year.

And I must have forgotten about this, LOT has charter operations from WAW to KUL this winter?!

Who knows, maybe UA will fly to KUL afterall 😁

It will be interesting to see how that develops. I must say that having been on four flights in September using both NH and UA from KUL and NRT/HND respectively, there were certainly a good number of passengers connecting to LAX, SFO and EWR among others including myself. We'll just have to wait and see if KUL gets an American carrier in this lifetime. Lol !!

Either way, it is good for KUL and if not, NH continues to be their partner.

We have a lot of new investments from US tech giants recently, and just yesterday, Oracle announced they will invest $6.5B USD in Malaysia. However, I am not sure if those will lead to corporate travel between US and Malaysia. If it does, maybe we will see UA at KUL.

We just need a daytime HND slot. It's ridiculous that we didn't get any where as other Southeast Asian countries has one other than the lesser countries. With current MH/JL schedule, there are almost no JP domestic connections available to Malaysia (or at least an overnight in Tokyo with NH). KIX/NRT has very little domestic connections available (unless you do a self transfer).
