Glad to see a Central Asia airline doing well for KUL, they recently quit Singapore citing poor load. Was triangular flight between KUL,SIN and Tashkent. Replaced with CGK stop, now non stop. Really curious to know the trade figure between both countries.

I'd flown KUL-SIN-TAS. From my observation, seems like there are lots of Uzbek students study in Malaysia. Likewise, Malaysia is quite known as the place for study, leisure and stopover to Australia. Uzbekistan too is becoming a preferred alternative tourism destination as compared with Turkey, or Middle East. It is still not overwhelmed with tourists.

 

On a side note, while we visited Uzbekistan as part of a tour group, a young lady member of our group sort of befriended an Uzbek while on tour in Bukhara. Many months later, the supposedly Uzbek friend met the lady back in Sabah. The circumstance of the reunion were funny and peculiar though. The lady's aunt told how the Uzbek man suddenly showed up in front of their house in KK and judging by the aunt reaction, the aunt got a bit panicked. I was surprised too, and that got me thinking how on earth the guy flown thousands of miles just to meet that lady again. And turns out he even had the intention to marry her and move to Perth, Australia!

All Garuda London and Amsterdam flights have been downgraded to A330-200 and flying via Medan.

Rumors out the 77w's will be leaving garuda end of next year as well. Bassicaly garuda has no fleet renewal except the a330neo. 787s and 350s were cancelled by Jokowi. No updates on 737max

They have a lot of A339s coming in the next 12 mths. This might be the lowest cost route to modernising their fleet.

Condor discontinues Kuala Lumpur service in Jan 2020

Condor in January 2020 is discontinuing Frankfurt – Kuala Lumpur service, 3 months earlier than previously planned. Based on latest adjustment, the airline schedules last Frankfurt departure on 16JAN20. For winter season, service operates twice weekly with Boeing 767, switching to A330-200 (Condor Partner Airline) from 18NOV19.

Would be interesting to study the similarities between MH and TG and whether the same(ish) solution can be found. Why not a AF-KLM style merger? :D

Usd 11bil losses so far since 1997 and accumulating. They did a few successful turnaround but market always changes for the worse.

Thailand has a big tourism industry but TG is struggling.

This GLC also suffers from poor management, corruption and red tape. So it has a lot in common with MH.

Maybe one day if ASEAN is liberalized like the EU (but see how that has turned out..?).
