Come on China Eastern, now that Malaysia and China are BFFs, surely it should be feasible now to give back at least one daily flight back to MU mainline?

Woah, 6 hours on narrow body. Isn't it a bit torturing?? Current record holder is Copa Airlines Montevideo to Panama City 7hr 29mins for a B737-800. Edited by JuliusWong

I have used Shanghai Airlines 738 from Shanghai to KL. Was ok. Lack of IFE though and unfortunately they do allow the use of HP (even in airplane mode) on their flights. Country rules.

dont know there's a viable market between indonesia and india especially the sumatera region or maybe they are relying on ex/in KUL pax

From Medan there is a small market, however this is mainly due to the fact that Malaysian carriers cannot get more slots in Chennai. So Malindo use's batik to work their way around getting slots and they have the chennai route pretty much.

Third time in history. Goes to show the market really isn't there yet although I have to commend some Thais who take this direct flight and enjoy some of Sabah's tourism products although theirs are more mature and more well-known. :)

Shame. The 6:30am departure out of TPE was quite a handy connection from those 5am North American arrivals.

Don't mind the 4 hour narrowbody flight as it gets me into KUL just in time for lunch :p

Think marketing didnt do well. Dunno how many times i have to inform my sabahan friends that there is a direct bki-bkk route. Also one note the moment i say it isnt airasia the regular reaction will be "wah sure expensive lah".

Logical...though Sabahans (in numbers alone) are too small in terms of market size. Thai Smile/Thai Airways should be more aggressive in promoting this route, maybe one year in advance especially at networks west of BKK (India, Europe in particular)... The company was the one who said that Europeans were expected to contribute much of the feeder traffic to this route.

Route planners in TG/WE too hasty I guess with no effective strategy to make it really sustainable in long term...

Local tour companies should promote this route too, but I am not sure whether the airline cooperate with them.

When it comes to travelling for Sabahan, our northern neighbours like Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam are not as popular as places like HK, Taipei, China or even Korea and Australia. There are people who travel to these northern countries but in small amount. They prefer North Asia's destinations due to convenience of direct service.

how bout SQ? any W17 changers?? Last week i was on 330... load very high... A380 please....kasmahamida

For what? They have multiple flights into ICN daily. Choose carefully the equipment you wanna be on next time. There's one 77W which makes a transit in ICN for onwards journey to SFO. Nothing bigger than 77W.

Any other airlines are using 747-8I to KUL/SIN?

The only other airline with the 747-8I is LH.

LH doesn't serve KUL anymore and they send A380s to SIN.
