Noticed that when I went to select my seats for TPE-KUL for this Dec. Can't seem to select the upper deck or the nose, tho

On a side note, does anyone know if CI gives out amenity kits on TPE-KUL? And how is the seat on the 744? Better than JL's 787 on LAX-KIX?

I don't think so...to be safe you can find them on Facebook and drop them a line.

It seems that Xiamen Airlines served 6 destinations to/from KUL, but this information is missing on KLIA's Wiki page.

http://www.xiamenair.com/my/en/traveler/Passenger.shtml

Please take note that the Changsha flight is replaced by Hangzhou now.

Whoever that managed the KLIA's Wiki page definitely need to do more homework. Also missing on that page are Shaheen Air flights to Karachi & Lahore and China Southern's flights to Yinchuan and Lanzhou.

Wikipedia exclude 'direct flight thru airline's hub', due to possible terminal or aircraft change during transfer. Thus, all the destinations stated above were not considered.

Shaheen Air has temporarily suspended KUL, so it was delisted.

Not so sure about the aircraft change, but these destinations are served directly from KUL by Xiamen even some of them are not nonstop flights. Air Asia X flies to Auckland via Gold Coast and we still considered Auckland is served by D7 from KUL. I was in KLIA for few days last week and I saw some of these destinations on KLIA's FIDS screen.

from my past experience, everyone from xiamen flight need to deboard the plane and pass thru security and re-board in Xiamen airport. not sure it they need to check in for their final leg in xiamen but maybe that's why its not considered direct flight. Even for domestic flight in china a transit stop will require you to deboard and go through immigration check before you board the next leg of your flight. thats what i experienced flying Xiamen airline to Nanning with stopover in Shenzen. it was a hassle especially having to pass thru security at massive airport like Shenzen with long queues

Confirmed you need to deboard and pass thru security and reboard in Xiamen. Took Xiamen Air flight KUL- Hangzhou transiting in Xiamen. It was a hassle, you can't check in all the way to Hangzhou at KLIA nor can you check in online!

A flight is direct if:

- The flight has the same flight number throughout the entire journey

- Same aircraft is used throughout the entire journey

- The direct flight may make an immediate stop or fuel stop

It doesn't matter if you will need to complete immigration or not, if the MF flights that connect in XMN satisfies the criteria above then it should be included on the list. Don't confuse direct with non-stop, a non-stop flight makes no stops, whereas a direct flight can. For example, QF9's route it MEL-DXB-LHR, the entire journey uses 1 flight number, same aircraft throughout both flights and makes an immediate stop at DXB, which makes it a direct flight.

It would be factually incorrect if those destinations aren't included in the wikipedia article. A potential passenger will not check Wikipedia! When booking it will say anyways that immigration will be needed at XMN etc...

Wikipedia works based on consensus of other editors. Most airports editors in Wikipedia fully aware what is considered direct or non-stop flights. However, the directness of beyond-hub flights by Mainland Chinese airlines has become an issue in recent years. For instance, flights on Hainan Airlines HGH-XIY-CDG operate from two different terminal in XIY, sometimes involved one wide body (international sector) and continued on narrow body for domestic sector. Many editors argued these airlines had 'abused' the spirit of direct flights and its 'genuineness'. Some said it works like a connection instead of direct flights. These rules also applies in US, Indian and Canadian airports. Here what has been reached in that consensus;

List non-stop and direct flights only. That means the flight number and the aircraft, starts at this airport and continues to one or more airports. ... However, avoid listing direct flights that contain a stop at a domestic hub, as virtually all of these are simply flights from one "spoke city" to a hub, with the plane continuing from the hub to a second spoke city. Furthermore, these flights often involve plane changes, despite the direct designation. Including these flights dramatically increases the length of destination listings, artificially inflates the airline's presence at a location and requires constant updating, as these "timetable direct" destinations have little rhyme or reason and may change as often as every week or two.

Whatever the reason is, if there is a listing on the FIDS screen+a flight announcement made by the airport for these destinations, they should included inside the list.

Not really thought. Yes during year end we get the occasional upgrade, but we have consistent daily flights from 4 different Koreancarriers (KE/LJ, OZ/Air Seoul, ZE and 7C) throughout the year. Still no MH or AK.
