Jin Air going to do some flights into JHB early next year

From what I read, it's at least partly due to Beijing's displeasure with the South Korean THAAD

No doubt played some part too in recent 50+% increase of South Koreans into BKI

Make hay while the sun shines :)

Sorry but this is too intellectually challenging. What has missiles and neighbours displeasure got to do with exodus to Johor?

In one way or another, the missiles and neighbour displeasure does affect how common people react:

'South Korean tourists sanction China, opt for Japan'

'Tourism industry to continue to suffer as THAAD issue remains unresolved'

The move is also part of the budget carrier's efforts to offset a sharp decline in travel demand from China amid ongoing political tensions between the two countries over the deployment of an advanced U.S. anti-missile system in South Korea, called THAAD, to deter North Korean provocations.

In March, Beijing banned the sale of group travel packages to South Korea in retaliation against the THAAD deployment, which it argues can be used to spy on its military.

Yes and yes ..but why specifically Johor?

Why not KCH, LGK, KUA or anywhere else?

Cheaper option to Singapore? A lot of Chinese investment in the Iskandar region making JHB more publicly known to the Chinese?

Does anyone know if KLM have suspended their morning flights out of KUL?

That (KL811/812) was a summer seasonal flight. Still unsure if itll be back for NS18.

Xiamen Airlines plans Beijing Kota Kinabalu from Jan 2018

Daily eh ? Now that may be an overkill :)

It's amazing how they can afford to leave the plane on the ground for such long hours...they sure have alot of planes to spare. Bet that one plane is allocated solely for BKI.

Seems like it was influenced too by availability of slots at PEK.

Perhaps MF can use the plane to fly somewhere else in between those long layover rather than parked on hot and humid BKI tarmac.

BKI-DPS

BKI-???

Tag-on sectors are not goldmine flights, contrary to what some people here think. There's a lot more to it than just piling on the extra sectors and waiting for the cash to flow in. Won't it be better to leave the plane on the ground than doubling your operating costs unnecessarily?
