MAS New Boeing 737-800s with Sky Interior

9M-MLF is still one of the leased B737-800s, hence no PTV. I'm surprised they didn't supply the portable IFE units unless, of course, they only keep those on the A330s.

 

I've done flights with the leased 738s and portable PTVs are handed out.

no portable IFE on that flight. but during Kul-Cmb earlier on 737-8, they did provide portable IFE.

Until -MXB arrives, -MXA will be the specialised aircraft to serve BKI-HND from 15Nov10, 3x wkly. Hence, it seems that it will be spending a lot of ground time at BKI. Looking at the schedules, it will serve BKI-HND on days 1/3/5, and then on the turnaround, HND-BKI-KUL-BKI on days 2/4/6; departing HND at 01:20 on each of those days 2/4/6 and arriving back in BKI (after doing the KUL run) for the second time that same day at 16:00.

 

Hence, the 738 does no scheduled flying on day 7. And will sit on the ground for almost 24 hrs in BKI between each HND run. (i.e. from 16:00 on days 2/4 until it departs to HND at 16:35 on days 3/5).

 

Did I miss any in-between sector that -MXA would be operating for? MH prob maintains a conservative schedule until it has more 738s available as an out-of-positioned -MXA due to tech or whatever will jeopardise the BKI-HNDvv service.

They will probably have training flights between HND runs.

Liza, where the business class seats like other 737's of MH's? Or where they Euro-style where the middle seat is blocked?

Just plain lazy crew then?

 

This is where I always feel that most airlines are capable of wow-ing one load of passengers at some point ... but it is far more important to be consistently in delivering a good quality of service. This way, the customers know that they can expect a minimum standard of service that is already ahead of most of the other airlines.

 

I've had great service - potentially some of the best I've experienced - on some Asian carriers, but sadly this experience is not often delivered on subsequent flights.

Perhaps they could not dish out the portable units on the return flight because the batteries are flat?

They will introduce BKI-PER flights in January 2011. I guess that is when MXB will join the fleet. But I am not sure if that will increase aircraft utilisation. Anyway, MH is not a LCC, so they may just be planning on a longer term basis and the spare capacity may be used as and when the need arises in future.

The illustration of the livery on the dreamliner looks stunning but that ts because the plane is not all white but has a silverish coat all over and that makes the difference,

 

Also the wau should be more slanting wau as it will then complement the slanting blue and red lines on the fuselage.

 

Mh should adopt that silverish tint as it makes the whole livery really posh.Also this will help with the plane not looking so dirty,instead of pure white.

Those euro J seats are long gone now. Replaced by seats similar to what MH has on it's 734 but slightly nicer and more comfortable seatbacks

PTV/PMP or not, i hope they have those seatback (or armrest, if anybody ever consider) USB power port to power our own media player.

 

As quoted by Capt. Nik:

In a few years from now even the IFE in the aircraft will be not as popular as a powerpoint on every seat as everyone has a laptop full of movies, Mp3 players, PsP, Nintendos, Ipad and its competitive counterparts....

My friend, who is working with MAS posted on Facebook that 'MH is gradually changing the cabin layout and all (!) aircraft will have personal IFE on each seat, even 737'. It's time for a major overhaul for MH I guess.

And about time too! I hope the overhaul involves changing the Business class seats into flat beds rather than the angled lie-flat seats and an update to the IFE system in Economy. Of the current fleet, I suppose the priority for the overhaul would go to the B777s, since they'll be staying in the fleet longest whilst all the B734s and the old A330s will be completely replaced when the new planes come.
