Recommended Posts

Some more new B738s on their way soon. Next one is 9M-MLG (31779/3395) due to deliver next month. Then 9M-MLH (31723) and 9M-MLI (31793). All 3 are ex Delta Air Lines sold to Babcock & Brown and leased to MAS.

:good:

Anyone know what's happening with 9M-MLF ? Delivered over a month ago but no sign of it in service according to Libhomeradar site.

9M-MLF now in service since 22nd Aug - only seen doing the KUL/PEN run.

With all these new 737-800s coming into service, have any of the old 737-400s been phased out yet? If so, how many are currently left?

What so special about 9M-MXA? Or is it just because of its nice rego?

It will be the first of the new B738's ordered by MH - therefore MH has full control over what comes with the plane. The leased planes are spec'ed by their owners and most of the planes have been used by other airlines.

MH's own B738's will feature the Sky interior:

I wonder why MH is not having any advertisement to inform and enlighten customers on the new features of these birds..which could potentially pull customers away from AK if the proposition is enticing. Unless there is nothing new in terms of software to add to the old 734.

Once MH gets their ordered 738s, what will they do with their leased planes? Return them?

MH desperately wants to retire the old B734's - so the leased B738's will remain in the fleet for the foreseeable future to supplement the newly ordered ones. It will take Boeing a few years to complete deliveries of the whole order.

That explains the excitement! Thanks! :]

Just for information, MH's first two 738's will be based in BKI. So I guess the first destination will be HND.

Unlikely. The first destination carrying commercial pax can be PEN, LGK, SIN, KCH or BKI - likely to be well before the planes head to HND.

MH will be taking delivery of 3 more leased B737-8FZ, brand-new from Seattle. In fact MLG should be arriving to KUL or SZB within a week.

MH B738 are now doing Delhi.

MH equipment downgrade from A333 means MH is badly beaten by D7. DEL and other Indian cities were at one time high yield and high load routes for MH.

Instead of focusing on O&D pax, MH need to consider transit pax. Believe SQ is keeping a 772 at SYD for over 12 hours just to time arrival at SIN for quick connection to South Asia.

Well I guess that is correct. One of the posts above state that delivery will be 29th October while HND will be launced 15th November.

However my main point was that the first two new birds will be based in BKI.

If that is true, then the new B738's will initially fly KCH-BKI and/or BKI-KUL sectors during the "shakedown" period before commencing the KCH-BKI-HND flights.
