OK, SIN guys: where/when/what time do we meet ?

Unfortunately, the part is getting smaller and smaller (:

Hopefully, we will have a great day out, with the ones remaining !!!

Uncle, I don't know much about Singapore but I will be there on the 25th already. I am hoping for someone to set a place and with some directions on how to get there will be great for first timers like me.

KC, thank you so so much. You just helped so many others who won't need to google up on how to get to Changi Beach area. Hopefully weather will be great for spotting. Looking forward to meet all of you coming.

Anyways, just curious. Any SIN members joining us? I don't think it's going to be fun without any of you there :pardon:

Hi guys,

I am thinking for those who would arrive on 25 June, maybe we can have dinner at the airport. I will be arriving around 5pm and staying somewhere in Bugis.

Airport? That's another 20mins out of the city via MRT bro. But I seriously don't mind. :yahoo:

If TR2329 from SGN is not delayed, I should arrive at 8:15pm, so have to skip the dinner...

See you all on saturday 26/06 :)

Nah will see you in the morning.. Is there any meeting time and place already?

Cornelis,

Will arrive at Budget Terminal, while you arrive at T1/2 ? So, cannot meet at conveyorbelts :(

AI: 773 i.s.o. 320 ? Would have preferred the bus, as 773 already seen @ LHR...

Guess I'll be there around 9.30am (as have to take bus from T3) and will walk along the beach until 'hitting' you guys :)

Would be nice to see the brandnew 9V-STO ! ... and, hopefully Asialink and AN12/32 !

For the morning sessions, try to be there at day break - around 7 am to catch the B77Ws and A380 arrivals.

Morning arrivals will wither down to trickle after 10 am. IMHO the more interesting session will be from 3 pm onwards till sunset.

These are teletext pages on TV containing arrival flight information.

You may also want to check out the flight stats page to note the traffic movements in order not to miss it. What may be interesting to you may not be so for the local spotters.... So plan you meal / break time accordingly. Food is about 10 minutes away (brisk walking) by foot. Allow for 40 minutes for a quick bit.

Sunblock, hats and water are all necessary to avoid be a dehydrated lobster :-)

There is minimal shade for the morning session, though you may run in and out of shelter under the coconut trees for the afternoon session.

When carpark aunty Kwek tells you that sunblock is important . . . you better believe it. Jonathan has a picture to prove that Kwek uses this divine liquid generously.

Thank you very much Kwek, very very informative stuff! I believe those who are attending wouldn't need to do any googling around for information already. I hope to meet you and the other SIN members there. :yahoo:

I would not be meeting you guys this Saturday for the MWings 5th anniversary unfortunately as I would be overseas. Best of luck spotting to all with great subjects and excellent weather! :yahoo:

Happy 5th anniversary to MWings in advance!

Not so Pieter ... I will be around and await your call on Friday. Also awaiting call from Francis Lee ... and will see how we could meet on Sat morning.

Vernon Loh will also be around to be with the Mwingers. Kian Hong and Raymond are probably in touch with you folks too and I imagine they too will be around.

As I have no idea where you folks will be putting up, I need to talk to you guys on Friday night to see how we go about meeting. Also if anyone is staying at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, the option may then be to shoot from there in the morning and from Changi Beach in the afternoon. In which case, we could bring food and have a little "picnic" in the room in between spotting.

Hi all,

The good news is that my business trip is postponed for a week.

The bad news is that I have another appointment on Sat late morning and afternoon.

I will only be free to meet you guys in the first half of morning for Saturday and probably Sunday, if anyone is still staying on.

But with KC hanging around, I'm sure you will be in good hands.

I will check here on Friday for the meeting location - Changi beach may be a better choice for action shots, departures are far and few on 20R in the mornings except for the half hour routine runway closure period. You will probably benefit more from the Crowne Plaza shooting location if Rwy 02 is in use.

Hi everyone,

I think that in order to avoid confusion, we should perhaps decide on a meeting point on Saturday morning. Since KC has said that the best traffic takes place early in the morning, maybe we can meet at 7.30 am (or a little earlier, although I am not sure if we have the light!). For those who cannot make it so early we can select another meeting point and time and maybe do lunch before the afternoon session spotting at 3 pm. As the group is not too big, we should probably pm the contact phone numbers to one another so that we can be in phone or text contact should we miss the appointed time at the meeting points.

Are there any suggestions on where we should gather?

Just a couple of "tips" for those visiting Singapore.

1 It may be advisable to purchase a prepaid SIM card when you arrive in Singapore from convenince stores like 7 Eleven. This will enable you text and to make phone calls at local rates and it will make it cheaper for our Singapore friends to contact you too. This card from Singtel costs S$ 8 and has S$ 10 loaded value: http://info.singtel.com/personal/communication/mobile/prepaid-plans/plans-top-up/hi-card

2 Do sign up for a free (512 Kbps) Wireless@Sg metropolitan Wifi account so that you can access the Internet at public hotspots. Info: http://www.infocomm123.sg/wireless_at_sg

I got refused during boarding in London today!! (Passport issues indeed!) I can't get into SIN anymore for anniversary :( :( :( :( :(

I still can use my LHR-SIN-LHR ticket another time but I am not sure when I am going to reschedule this flight. Sorry guys!

I hope to meet some of the SIN guys the time I am going to use my "A380" Ticket.

The only positive thing is (Look on the bright side of life;) ) I shot some good traffic @ DUS and LHR today, shots will follow.

LHR had entire tarmac filled up with Qatar aircraft, and from Brunei the 342 AND 772! :D

Enjoy the Anniversary Saturday guys!!

What happen?

Understood validity of passport was less than 6 months, as required by SIN Authorities...

AFAIK, that's the norm. When we leave the country, we have to make sure of that too. Is it different in the EU?

Kwek is right . . . most countries insists that your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date you enter. So before one's passport validity comes close to this point, it is necessary to have it renewed before embarking on any travel.

Cornelius is lucky that he was stopped before boarding the flight to SIN. It would have been a wasted exercise if he got to SIN and is denied entry and turned back on the same flight back to Amsterdam. At least the ticket could still be used on another date.

No worry ... we will have you in our minds when we meet the other Mwingers ... and when you return, we will meet you and show you what you missed.
