Azri M. 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2010 What is the New Frontier? Is it AirAsia's new frequent flyer program?? http://www.airasia.com/site/my/en/home.jsp
reyneo 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2010 Nope... if you click the banner from the Singapore site (doesn't show on the MY one), the popup reveals what this 'New Frontier' is... http://www.airasia.com/site/my/en/page.jsp?reference=maasign&utm_source=Sidespot#2&utm_medium=Sidebanner&utm_content=maasign_sgen&utm_campaign=Chennai Its their new non-stop flight from Penang to Chennai! Anyway, back to the original topic, flightglobal says that all 7 of D7's A330s n A340s will be refitted by June! Also... In economy class, the number of seats on the A340 will increase to 309 from 256, while the number of seats on the A330 will increase to 365 from 364, says the spokeswoman. With XL seats being reduced from 30/28 seats to just 18/12 seats, I'm pretty sure economy class should become 2-4-2, since the seat increase on the A330 is just one seat! XL class should also return back to the normal 2-2-2 config, with 2 rows on the A330 and 3 rows on the A340. At last! If AK-X can keep the Y fares as they are and increase J by just a little bit (hopefully still cheaper than full service Y class), they're gonna give a lot of airlines a run for their money! Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted January 23, 2010 What is the New Frontier? Is it AirAsia's new frequent flyer program?? There is a rumour going around in A.Net about AirAsia is going to have a FFP. Tremendous news if it is true. But hopefully, if it ever materialised, AirAsia will adopt the 'miles' system rather than the 'point' system it is currently using for their Citibank AirAsia credit card program. Azri M. 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Oh Ic.. I know the FFP is coming and I thought it's name is the New Frontier. I heard also that in order to configure into flat bed seats, they have to reduce the number of Premium seats significantly, but the number of economy seats are left untouched, only slight modification (i.e. can now recline). KK Lee 5 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Nope... if you click the banner from the Singapore site (doesn't show on the MY one), the popup reveals what this 'New Frontier' is... http://www.airasia.com/site/my/en/page.jsp?reference=maasign&utm_source=Sidespot#2&utm_medium=Sidebanner&utm_content=maasign_sgen&utm_campaign=Chennai Traditionally, MAA has been a high load, high yield route for MH. With aggressive marketing and civilize schedule, AK will impose load of pressure on MH bottom line. There is a rumour going around in A.Net about AirAsia is going to have a FFP. LCC business model doesn’t call for FFP. Unless AK and D7 are under pressure from competitors, it is unlikely it will incur cost unless money can be made from FFP. flee 5 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Frankly I do not see what benefits LCCs can derive out of a FFP unless they change the FFP model into something that is a win-win situation. If the current FFP model is used, then all it means is more cost to the airline. For the FF, I doubt if there is any excitement of being in the FFP programme if it is to be based on the present model. I think AK/D7 already has some sort of marketing tool other than FFP, e.g. their Facebook fan page, the AA Citibank card, etc. So a FFP should not really be a priority for them. Waiping 12 Report post Posted January 24, 2010 Perhaps AK/D7 is moving away from traditional LCC model? FFP requires a lot of back end support i.e. customer service and with AK/D7's dismal customer support I am not sure it would work for them, at least not now. Who are you gonna call if your points are not credited into your account then?

Who are you gonna call if your points are not credited into your account then? Even Azran says so... Azran also said the carrier is seriously considering having its own loyalty programme, "We hired a specialist on loyalty programmes last December, so I can tell you that we are very serious about loyalty programmes," he said http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BTIMES/articles/axp/Article/

Waiping 12 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 The color looks really comforting. In this instance it looks better than the M&M seats.

Sharil Abdul Rahman 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 It makes the plane look airy. Much better than the one they had last time, the leather seats. And its a "proper" tilt back seat too!
Izhar Z 1 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 I dont really dig the Y seats colours. I think red and black look better for them, no? But good for them for listening to their customers and change the seat. And they do make MH looks sub-par....
Tony 1 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Well done, D7! Thank you for ditching the egg shell seats with "slide-able" cushion that squashed my legs, reduced my legroom, and almost caused DVT after an 8-hour journey from OOL.
Cheng Long 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Errr... the seat colour in the economy actually looks dirty la.. It's not a common colour people use, perhaps there is a reason for that...
reyneo 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 actually, i think there is! Does anyone notice that somehow the EY seats look not-so-cramped? (In fact, from that photo, it looks like the seats have a regular Y seat width and makes the plane look like a 777!) This is especially so if you compare it next to the old black seat cabin photos. The brighter colors give a roomier and larger 'feel' to the cabin and seats despite the same 3-3-3 config!
Waiping 12 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Kinda reminds me of the seat on BI's A319/A320. The color looks similar to those on Swiss new generation of A330s.
