JAL to tie up with DL and ST, drop OW

According to a Reuters' article, a Japanese paper has reported that JL and DL have agreed to forge partnership which the switch of alliance to ST is slated to be complete by Apr 2011.

 

What will that mean to OW for that they have lost a significant airline representing north Asia? And more importantly will that help JL out of its mess?

Will we see AA establish a hub like NW before the takeover

AA actually released a statement about a week or two ago that they will cut almost every flights into NRT should JL decides to partner DL/Skyteam instead.
