Norman 1 Report post Posted January 2, 2010 Wow... nice catch KS & WT ... On New Year day... wasn't brave enough to take the two Chinese spotters to Obs Hill (they said they don't want to miss their flight to SIN that night if they were in any trouble with the bulis... their passport details were noted when they were 'caught' spotting in Anjung Tinjau) So I brought them to Lake Side only... Their main target was this Middle Eastern carrier... and getting this one from the middle east as bonus... If all flight are as heavy as MH4... then lakeside not so bad... --
Tamizi Hj Tamby 1 Report post Posted January 2, 2010 So Uncle Norman, the lake side is still ok for spotting?
Norman 1 Report post Posted January 2, 2010 So Uncle Norman, the lake side is still ok for spotting? Dunno... we didn't 'spot' any beredar team... furthermore our KLIA's fishermen now switched to this lake for their activities, since Jln Perkeliling closed... Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted January 2, 2010 their passport details were noted when they were 'caught' spotting in Anjung Tinjau) So now even to take pictures in Anjung Tinjau is considered as a dangerous act that passport/ID details will be jotted down? This is not right.
S M Tang 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2010 How to get to lakeside? Where is it? Is the weather station still accessible?
Norman 1 Report post Posted January 2, 2010 So now even to take pictures in Anjung Tinjau is considered as a dangerous act that passport/ID details will be jotted down? This is not right. Their passports were noted but the PGA guys didn't forbid them from continuing with the photography.. Their last question was..."How much was the camera?..." SherM... Pls chk the KLIA Spotting thread above...
Kwek 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2010 What a change in KLIA spotting climate within a year. BTW in Singapore (before they closed off the viewing gallery for "upgrade"), they ask if you have a permit to shoot. :-(

Radzi 2 Report post Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) Runway 32R takeoff is from intersection A9 (about 3600 m runway length). No problem for narrowbodies or lightweight widebodies. Otherwise Runway 32L departure for aircraft requiring full length (4000 m) runway. Edited January 25, 2010 by Radzi
Chaity 1 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 Runway 32R takeoff is from intersection A9 (about 3600 m runway length). No problem for narrowbodies or lightweight widebodies. Otherwise Runway 32L departure for aircraft requiring full length (4000 m) runway. Thanks Capt for pointing out the intersection. I was passing by KLIA last Sunday(24/1) to attend a wedding dinner in Nilai. As usual, did a "pit-stop" near Ladang for an hour. Here's what happen near the entrance. Since only an hour, didn't hike up to ladang spot but stand on top of the "temporary mount". With shorter Rwy 32R, palm tree branches sure get in the way While our SIN spotter friends getting the QF A380 as shown in this thread --> SIN spotting I managed to get her too but many many feet on top of KUL A little bonus for me when this latest CX 777W winking her way from Rwy 32R Nothing to shout about comparing to our spotting sessions last time. At least I will still make my spotting fun by avoiding those #%$@ branches.

Ashmil Abd Ghani 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2010 just some updates, saw a DC8 with rego 9G-AED parked in the remote cargo bay. also spotted 9M-NAA sitting inside SAE's hangar again! Been so long I want to ask this 200m ringgit questions... Where do the 9M-NAA "stored" when she not on official duty?It is around KLIA or at SZB or inside RMAF AB hangar???(I remember once it was at MH MRO remote bay, could be that 1 for maintenance...) Who is the pilot of NAA?I read it piloted by 3 ex-MH B777 pilots but not clear either on full time basis or during on official duty by the nation VVVIP... Thank you
Walter Sim 1 Report post Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) Runway 32R takeoff is from intersection A9 (about 3600 m runway length). No problem for narrowbodies or lightweight widebodies. Otherwise Runway 32L departure for aircraft requiring full length (4000 m) runway. On Friday my flight took off from A7, if not mistaken around 2500m TORA...
