Looks like MH is replacing 777 with new A330, and use free 777 to replace the old A330.

Interesting development here... especially the replacement of one of MH's LHR service with 777s. Are any 747s going away soon?

Also seems the aftermath on Japan's tourism demand still lingers.

Another thing: when the article mentions 333, are they going to be exclusively operated by new ones or a mix of old and new?

MH operating 772 on routes that is within A333 range is paying more on fuel, etc :sorry:

A33E angled lie-flat is operating long haul to MEL, may be MH classify MEL, SYD, BNE as regional :pardon:

330 is old A330-300

333 is new A330-300

Also the 333 will continue to operate KUL PVG MH386/387 (Initial edit on the post I did apparently didn't went through)

This is better seems the routes previously served by old A330 does not equip with AOVD. Now it is more competitive to serve all routes equipped with AOVD.

However, I feel a bit sad to see B747 downgraded to B777 on the KUL - LHR route.

Planned New A330-300 operational destinations has changed, which will now be:

BNE, PVG, MEL, ADL

And DXB continues to be served by MH's time-machines (aka 330s)...

First one will be C/N 1148. So far still has not flown yet. So it may take another month or more.

Wonder why MH never uses 777 on this route? It doesn't require 777 long legs, but HKG, NRT or BOM also don't need the range. Maybe MH assumes DXB is not prestigious enough ;)

Well flights to Australia are classified by many Asian airlines as regional. SQ send it's regional A333 product to Australia with the exception on MEL & SYD receiving long haul product.

So we will see an increase on seats to MEL? Hopefully this might not effect possible MEL A380 flights!

I supposed with better technology and ranges of aircraft nowadays, airlines are redrawing their "short", "medium" and "long" haul classification. same goes to regional flight......

"never" is not the right word. DXB has been served by 772s before; such as MH90/91, on the way to/from EWR.

No more A330s to PERTH, great!

I made a follow-up correction on the same post on my site. Old A330-300 operates from 01DEC11 to 14FEB12 (plus frequency returns to 10 weekly) . NEW A330-300 operates all 10 weekly from 15FEB12.

Malaysia Airlines announced that its new Airbus A330-300 aircraft, which carries the refreshed livery and enhanced in-flight features, will be deployed for flights to and from Adelaide and Melbourne starting September 26.

The first of the 15 new A330-300 aircraft was rolled out in April this year (see story here) and is currently used on the Kuala Lumpur-Brisbane route. Since then, the airline has received delivery of a total of five new A330-300 aircraft, with the remaining 10 due to arrive over the next few years.

The aircraft features a new configuration with fewer seats, totalling 283 and down from 294, in order to make more room. The economy class seat has become wider and the business class seat's width and pitch have both increased.

Furthermore, the aircraft now features an AVOD in-flight entertainment, mood lighting, larger windows and stowage bins.

The new aircraft is part of the carrier’s overall fleet renewal programme to phase out older aircraft and make way for a younger, enhanced fleet.

Pitch increased in Business vs the old 330, I agree. But the a/c already in use for ADL and MEL is the 772..... and this is definitely a reduction in pitch.

Misleading............

Can't wait to try this aircraft this November  I never found 34" pitch on MH 777 to be exceptionally comfortable <_ maybe because i always sat on window seats.>
