MAS New 15 A330-300X + 4 A330-200 Freighter

Recommended Posts

Maybank Investment issued out a very favorable report about MH's A333 today that just screams 'BUY'!. http://research.maybank-ib.com/download.php?did=657&mid=194

I want to throw up after reading the second paragraph of the summary page 1. Sorry but it looks like an amatuerish write-up done solely to brown-nose an organisation. If one wants to compare with the elite, like SQ and QR, critical questions like how long does MH plan to retain the cabin set-up, seats and LOPA need to be asked, as SQ's 330 are an interim fleet, and QR's seats/ 330s have been around for a few years now and are due for replacement soon. Also, in the comparison against other airlines, one should take TG's new 333 LOPA, and EK's data seems to be for its 330-200.

The report sounds like a mere thank-you note for a ticket on the launch flight.

When I saw the title, "New A330-300, quality par exellence" - I thought it was going to talk about Oman Air's....

Abis tu dah kasik naik joyride free2 gitu je, plus VIP treatment lagi masa event tu, kenala tulis yang elok2 belaka, reciprocate gitu. Sebab tu MAS tak jemput MW sebab kita bashing memanjang LOL.

Hahahahha MAR

Your statement is so lazer one!

My opinion, one can never please everybody. Some will agree, and some will disagree. But, the disagree group seems to dominate la nowadays....

If MH A33E is to replace 772 on Japanese and Aussie routes as planned, it is fairly certain that load on J class will be reduced :pardon:

The C seats may look similar to the casual observer but they are actually different. I believe the ones on GA are from B/E AErospace (MH's came from Recaro) and seems to be the latter, refined versions of what MH has on its 772 and 744s. The GA actually look better and sturdier, and seem to offer more room.

Indeed GA C has more room as GA only install 3 rows of flat bed (180 degree) C seats in the front cabin between door 1 and 2 and another 3 rows in the second cabin. Mind you GA's aircraft is A332 vs MH's A333. However, both GA and SQ only install 5 rows of lie flat C seats instead of 6 between door 1 and 2 on their A333.

The Business Class seats on GA 332 have 74" of seat pitch whilst those on 333 feature just 60" of seat pitch just like MH's and SQ's. The Economy Class seats on GA 333 remained the same which is 34" of seat pitch.

Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330-200

Business Class - 36 seats @ 74"

Economy Class - 186 seats @ 32"

Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330-300

Business Class - 42 seats** @ 60"

Economy Class - 215 seats @ 34"

**The first and sixth row of the 333 Business Class seats have bigger seat pitch than the rest of the Business Class seats.

It is not entirely correct to compare SQ 's C cabin layout with MH's based on number of rows between doors 1 & 2.(I havent seen GA's 333 LOPA, so cant say much) SQ has a toilet and a bigger galley area BETWEEN doors 1 and 2. On MH, the toilet is located AFTER door 2, and the galley-space utilisation at the front just after door 1 is smaller than SQ's - hence allowing room for the 6th row between doors 1 & 2.

Most J seats on A330 are 2-2-2, right? How come people are saying MH's is narrow?

According to seatguru, SQ J seats have 24.5" width. MH one is only 20". It has to do with the seat design (link)

Note though that in recline mode, the one of the side armrests of the MH seats can be stowed, increasing the seat width to 25".

Grreat! :drinks:

Surprisingly, seatguru lists MH 777 and 747 as having 18.5" seat width in J, 1.5" narrower than brand-new A330 (at 20" or max 25").

Probably one needs to check carefully on the definition of seat width. Is it just the cushioned/ leathered area, the seat pan or does it include the armrests, or shoulder area. For instance, when the arm rest is stowed, the MH seat width becomes 25" - but this is really for the shoulder area, as the so-called expanded space is non-cushioned - i.e. where the arm-rest would normally be.

Can passenger sit on the expanded area? In other words, does the extra area support butt, back shoulder and head? If not it is essentially dead space...

It is not dead space if the pax gets extra shoulder room.

Malaysia Airlines Introduces its New Enhanced A330-300

by George Palmer (SkyClub News) April 19th, 2011

...........................................................................................................................................................

Malaysia Airlines launched its new A330-300 aircraft last week with a ceremony to mark the occasion at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The new A330-300 has a total of 283 seats, with 36 seats in Business class. It will be operated on flights between Kuala Lumpur and Brisbane from April 20th and will be gradually rolled out on flights to Shanghai, Osaka, Beijing, Perth and Delhi at later dates.

Guests attending the ceremony were taken for a journey to experience the new interiors and features of the plane. When the new A330 arrived at KLIA, it was welcomed by a traditionalwater salute and a mixed drum ensemble. As passengers disembarked the aircraft they were greeted by an eclectic dance performance.

Malaysia Airlines is set to receive 15 new planes over the next four years as part of its fleet renewal programme. The new A330-300 fleet is the second fleet to sport the new Malaysia Airlines livery with red and blue lines to represent the carrier’s corporate colours.

On-board the aircraft, every seat is equipped with power supply and USB port for laptops and electronic equipment, so that passengers can stay connected during the flight. The cabins also feature mood lighting and spacious baggage compartments.

The Business Class cabin has angled lie-flat seats so that passengers can get comfortable and stretch out during their flight. Each Business Class seat has been designed to function as both an office and a place to unwind, featuring a fold-out privacy divider and a six-way adjustable headrest.

The Economy Class cabin is equipped with lightweight and slim design seats with four-way headrest.

Each seat inside the aircraft is equipped with individual audio-video on demand smart screens and passengers can stay entertained with the latest movies, games and entertainment.

Malaysia Airlines’ Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer TengkuDato’ Sri AzmilZahruddin said, “We are delighted to launch our first A330-300 five months after the delivery of the new B737-800 in November. The latest fleet is aimed at creating a strong and sustained platform for us to serve our discerning customers and for Malaysia Airlines to remain profitable. These aircrafts will serve the growing markets of South Asia, China, North Asia and Australia.”

like the report....very detailed and "loads of make up.."

Beats me why Maybank allows itself to be cheapen to this low - surely someone, somewhere realizes it takes more than a spanking new plane, more so when benchmarking against market leaders

The report sounds like a mere thank-you note for a ticket on the launch flight.

In defense to all the analysts out there, I have just read a report from OSK Securities which was issued out today, which after the usual kipas and a little suck up, they highlighted their analysis and in the end, downgraded MH to 'SELL' LOL.

Downgrade to SELL. We expect MAS to be profitable this year and reiterate that the carrier is on track for a turnaround in FY13. However, we think that high oil price will weigh on sentiment and damp earnings for the time being. Following the lower earnings forecast we downgrade MAS to SELL from NEUTRAL. Our new fair value on MAS is RM1.60 (previously RM1.76), premised on 8.5x EV/EBITDA, which is its average long term historical valuation and after taking off its FY11 net debt totaling RM1.8bn (net gearing of 62%).

I think this is MTA's routing:

20 April Depart KUL 0955 - MH 135

20 April Arrive BNE 2000 - MH 135

20 April Depart BNE 2315 - MH 134

21 April Arrive KUL 0535 - MH 134

21 April Depart KUL 0737 - MH 2604

21 April Arrive BKI 1015 - MH 2604

21 April Depart BKI 1106 - MH 2605

21 April Arrive KUL 1337 - MH 2605

There is no flight to BNE on day 2 (Tuesday) and 4 (Thursday). KUL-BNE vv is now operated 5 weekly. So MTA might be doing other short runs between 1400 today (after arriving from BKI) until 0940 tomorrow (22 April) which is its next ETD to BNE.

I think those in KCH should be on high alert. MTA might be doing MH 2528/9 today.
