MH has 3 daily flights into DPS. Flight MH 714/715 which will be served by the new A333 is currently being operated by the old A333. The other 2 daily flights are using the B734 and B738.

In the Jan-11 issue of The Peak magazine that features a cover story on MH's CEO, the CEO said that the product offering on the new 333 will be more exciting than what was revealed on the new 738s, and the 333 products will define what MH wants to be as a full service airline.

Now let's see how MH dresses the interior of its 333, whether it can be much better than LX's 333, GA's 332, TG's new 333 and SQ's 333. At the very least, it should trump SQ's 333 which is configured more as a "regional" aircraft.

I am still praying the EY on the soon to be delivered 333 will still be on 33"-34" of seat pitch ... but yeah, i know the chance is slim :(

I too hope that the seat pitch will remain as 33"/34"...

Any chance that MH will be putting the A333 on some domestic route (e.g. KUL-KCH or BKI) for crew training etc. before the KUL-BNE start on 15 May?

Please oh please let there be no delays on the delivery of these 333s. I'm scheduled to fly out of Brisbane on 15-May.

If I score one of these, I will be truly dancing for joy after a sleepless night on the old A330s. Total 180-degree recline lie-flat beds, now that'll be "suite dreams" (sorry, carried away, just "sweet dreams").

Now you guys/gals, if you know what the config is, please let us all know OK?

There won't be any training for the new A330 as the the old A330 rating is still valid. Any differences will be covered in the crew base checks.

If you scored that one, you'll be on the inaugural, and all of us will be so envious of you.

New Airbus A330-300 (333) seat map is appearing in reservation system. The 333 configuration remains identical to the old A330-300 (330). No PE cabin.

I don't think they'd be putting up the new seat map yet, so they'll be using the old seat map instead.

You should be on the new plane if the first flight out of KUL to BNE is on May 15. You'll be on the first flight of the new 333 out of BNE! You'll have to tell us all about it and take photos, of course, if it is!

Seat Map in Reservation system has been updated.

Also, although 333 inaugural is scheduled for 15MAY11 to BNE, it's still not 100% set in stone.

Can someone please post an image of the seat map ? I can't find it. Really hope it will remain 33"-34" of seat pitch in EY because if this really is the case, i guess it is safe to assume that MAS' 772, 744 and the yet to be delivered 388 will all still feature 33"-34" of seat pitch in EY.

Got these seatmaps after doing mock bookings.

J-class, old A333.

J-class, new A333.

As shown on the seatmaps, the configuration of the new A333 is identical to that of the old A333.

From these seatmaps, it can be said that if lie-flat beds are to be introduced in J-class, the seatpitch of Y-class will be reduced.

I still think is the seat map is not the updated one meant for the new A330-300...I'm sure in the next few months the seat map will change again for the new A330-300

The seat map for the soon to be delivered 333 clearly is not available yet. I think last time there was a post by MAR that a lie-flat seat is to be introduced in J whilst EY will have around 255 seats similar to SQ's 333. With only 255 of seats, 33"-34" is definitely possible for EY. However, it depends on the plane layout, crew bunk (if available), numbers of lavatory and closets installed.

Yes, this was earlier on released by MH in March 2010.

MAS orders A330-200Fs

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has ordered two Airbus A330-200 freighters, along with a previously announced order for up to 25 A330-300 passenger widebodies.

It has placed firm orders for two A330-200Fs with options for another two. The first freighter will join the MASKargo fleet in September 2011, says MAS.

The airline signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus in December for firm orders of 15 A330 passenger aircraft, and 10 options. Deliveries of these will begin in the first half of 2011, says the carrier.

"The new freighters will enable us to better serve the intra-Asia route, and offer direct services to Europe from India and Bangladesh. This complements our expansion plans in China, and will strengthen our position as a key niche player in the region," says MAS managing director and CEO Azmil Zahruddin.

MASkargo will fly the new freighters on sectors of up to 3,200nm, says the carrier. The aircraft will be able to carry payloads of almost 70t, it adds.

MAS' new A330 passenger aircraft will be configured with 283 seats in a two-class layout, says the airline.

"The A330-300 will become the mainstay of the carrier's medium haul passenger fleet and will be used on services to destinations across the Asia Pacific region, as well as up to the Middle East," says MAS, which already operates 14 A330s.

MAS plans to expand capacity on some routes from 28 March, and will add more flights to its services to Paris, Auckland and Perth. It expects to announce new destinations from the second quarter of this year, it adds.

Interesting fact. Thats mean there will be a reduction of 11 seats from MH's current A333s. The specs:

MH's current A333s - 44J, 250Y = 294 seats

MH's new A333s - xxJ, xxY = 283 seats

Based on the number of seats, I bet MH's configuration for the new A333s would be somewhat identical to SQ's new A333s. SQ's new A333s seat (30J + 255Y) = 285 passengers, just 2 seats more than MH's.

The news is quite old. After a year, hopefully MH will still stick to the planned seat number. :finger crossed:

On a slightly different matter, but still related to the launch of the new A333 services, when Brisbane used to either have the B744 or B777, the menu offerings were quite good and varied.

IMHO, the best years were 2004-2009 when the menus offered an experience more like fine dining in the sky. I was curious and wondered if my memory was playing tricks on me, so I did a summary of the menus covers and the beverage menus as well. This collection is by no means exhaustive, but I did flick through the collection I had from my twice-yearly trips and picked out the points when I observed a design change.

Along with the A333's new seat, cabin, amenities and entertainment systems, I am kinda hoping that the menus will also rise in a commensurate fashion. Let's see a return to true 5-star value carrier service!

Seat Map for the 333 is now updated. Configuration C36Y245.

Indeed it is! 6 rows in a 2x2x2 configuration, numbered rows 1,2,4,5,6,7 with 2 additional seats on the left (as row 8 ) for a total of 38 seats in C (but the 2 seats in row 8 are blocked - perhaps for crew?).
