zeqa 1 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 I just happen to browse airliners.net & I saw a no. of Asian airlines in the US desert.Catay Pacific, SQ, Japan,Eva, Dragon. It's due to the economic recession. http://www.airliners.net/photo//1623692/&sid=c8d352267f8d0c6fff22ef64810910b6 http://www.airliners.net/photo//1623630/&sid=c8d352267f8d0c6fff22ef64810910b6 http://www.airliners.net/photo//1623693/&sid=c8d352267f8d0c6fff22ef64810910b6 They are still new & I wonder who owns the planes now? Is it still under the respective airline or belongs to the logistics company that stores the plane.

Desert, being hot and dry is the perfect place for aircraft storage.
SC Chow 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 To protect the aircraft fuselage from corrosion or something. Desert, being hot and dry is the perfect place for aircraft storage. And I think the main reason is for economic purpose?
Mohd Idham 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Remember, park at normal airport will cost you the parking fees...a the desert, maybe no fees at all...

Mayer 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 They are still new & I wonder who owns the planes now? Is it still under the respective airline or belongs to the logistics company that stores the plane. It is more likely that they are under the control of the lessors. Companies which manage the airports usually provide storage services but aren't the actual owners of the aircraft. That is Mojave I guess? The graveyard for aircraft. No SC Chow, it is actually Victorville, in California's Desert. Best regards.

Turn it into a classroom or playground for the children You want to go all the way to some remote desert location just to have a meal (or two) ? Or send the kids there to such unforgiving conditions ?
