Isaac 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2009 Okay, it's not like the SIA group is pulling out of PEN entirely. Just that they are handing it over to its sister carrier Silk Air. MI will be operating three flights into PEN on a daily basis. From 1 December 2009, SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will take over the operation of services between Singapore and Penang. Singapore Airlines currently has a daily morning flight while SilkAir has twice-daily frequencies to Penang. By taking over the Singapore Airlines flight, SilkAir will serve Penang three times daily, with a morning frequency in addition to the current afternoon and evening frequencies. The flights are subject to regulatory approvals. Source : Business Times Singapore

Isaac 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) Is there any difference between MI and SQ flying into Penang? A huge drop in capacity. SQ uses 772 only while MI uses 32S. Edited October 5, 2009 by Isaac
H C Chai 4 Report post Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) I guess this means Business class passengers travelling on the morning flight to PEN will be using the SATS Premium Lounge instead of the Silver Kris Lounge... Also Star Alliance redemption flight into or out of PEN will have to be routed via BKK on Thai Airways Int'l. Anyone knows if they are keeping the Silver Kris Lounge in PEN? Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted October 5, 2009 Actually I am kinda expecting it, since the route was liberalised, which lead to another question - will KUL be next?
