One can learn about how Jet engine functions. http://www.geae.com/education/engines101/index.html At the following link you will find the current GE engine range and also the particular design requirement for each engine. The GE90 which powers the 777, GP7200 for the A380. The GEnX in particular is a new generation green engine, which powers the upcoming Boeing 787 and the GEnX-2B which powers the Boeing 747-8.
