A passenger plane carrying Germany's Social Democrat (SPD) leader Franz Muentefering has made an emergency landing at Germany's Stuttgart airport, after having problems with its landing gear.

Amateur footage shows the plane, which was flying in from Berlin's Tegel airport with 73 passengers and five crew members on board, landing on a protective layer of foam as flames appear from the undercarriage.

Contact Air, which operated the flight said all the passengers were able to leave the plane via its emergency slides.

One passenger was lightly injured and a stewardess was taken to a hospital for observation.

D-AFKE was delivered only a few weeks back to Contactair...

 

It's not the 1st time, though, a Fokker 100 is having undercarriage problems (Swissair and KLMuk come to mind)...

I don't know whether they tried or not....with such a prominent passenger on-board and doing some G-forces turns, they might have not not choosen this option...

Just wonder why they didn't operate into FKB or MUC/FRA (the latter two having dual runways), now STR airport was closed for almost 12 hours !!!
