Thanks Azizul …according to flight radar, Yemenia still flies to KUL. There was a brief suspension during the war in Yemen a few months ago.

Egyptair is A330-300 but three or 4 times weekly.

Just tried KL809/KL810 last week.

Nice plane + nice food (cgk-kul). Only problem is KLM cabin crew quiet rude + too old ( my kid called them nenek(grandma))

Well, you probably caught one of the bad apples. I had the opposite experience when I flew them in August

Perhaps coming from different culture some simple behaviour may be considered as rude. Did KL809/810 before and thought the crew were efficient.

Pass me my meal tray and cut the crap.

Hello MWingers

I am planning to visit my relatives in Singapore. Really want to try something new for this trip. Any suggestions on 5th freedom airline flying this KUL-SIN v.v that really worth trying? I knew WY is flying this route.

Thanks

Not really 5th freedom, but I will consider the SQ A350 as "something worth trying".

While at it, here is the list for KUL as at 4 March 2018:

1. Batik Air | KUL-MAA-KUL

2. Ethiopian Airlines | KUL-SIN-KUL

3. Indonesia AirAsia X | KUL-BOM-KUL (ending on 29 April 2018)

4. KLM | KUL-CGK-KUL | Daily

5. Royal Jordanian | KUL-BKK-KUL

6. Uzbekistan Airways | KUL-SIN-KUL

Has anyone tried the Ethiopian flight to SIN? It can be booked online from the airline's website. The Uzbekistan flight on the other hand could not be booked online so I am not sure if the service is still available or otherwise.

I´m pretty sure HY does not have (full) traffic rights for KUL-SIN vv.

So, you can´t book that route

Only Passengers with Tickets TAS-KUL/SIN can use these flights.

They might even be allowed to make a stopover in KUL and use the HY flight KUL-SIN a week later.

But no tickets can be sold on HY for KUL-SIN only.

And soon, it will switch to B787-10 - but there is a further premium on fares!

I never see SQ putting a premium on fares for the KUL runs just because a new aircraft is used. The fare remains consistent whether it is a 333 or 359 or 78J operating it.

Not sure when u checked the fares. But a month ago, KUL-SIN carried a RM50 premium if u went on 787-10 flights. Maybe it is now closer to April and fares have equalised.

Great news! Now we can fly to SIN with Air Mauritius. The price is somewhere between MH and SQ.

Year end 2018 list for KUL:

1. Air Mauritius | KUL-SIN-KUL

2. Batik Air | KUL-MAA-KUL

3. Ethiopian Airlines | KUL-SIN-KUL

4. KLM | KUL-CGK-KUL

5. PIA | KUL-BKK-KUL

6. Royal Jordanian | KUL-BKK-KUL

7. Uzbekistan Airways | KUL-SIN-KUL

The same list sorted by destination:

Singapore

1. Air Mauritius

2. Ethiopian

3. Uzbekistan

Bangkok

1. Pakistan

2. Royal Jordanian

Jakarta

1. KLM

Chennai

1. Batik

PIA is new in the list. As usual, the service at the beginning may not be getting the 5th freedom right just yet but this will be coming eventually.

I am glad that KUL still manage to maintain a sizeable list of this unique rarity of 5th freedom flights.

The same list for LHR London Heathrow, just for fun:

1. Air New Zealand | LHR-LAX-LHR

2. EVA Air | LHR-BKK-LHR

3. Qantas | LHR-SIN-LHR

And that's it. Only 3.

Seems like Batik Air has stopped their CGK - BKI flight since 28 Nov. From FR24 last active flight was 25 Nov, and no flight since then.

And no more LHR to NYC by KU and AI?

Correct.

The last one to pull out was KU.

Inofficiall reason:

Because of a political/legal row over a passenger denied boarding because he is Jewish.

KU is forced - by Kuwaiti law - to deny transportation of any Jewish passenger ...

So, in order to avoid further serious legal trouble in US they decided to terminate the service altogether.
