MAS 747-400 Withdrawal thread

Recommended Posts

jumbo's wil plrobably be sold n 744 pilots? worry not mate, pilots wit that many hours wil get jobs easily around the globe.if they are "locals" then probably transfered to 388 as per the crew on the first flight to LHR.

Unless they are management pilots with not many years left, making it less-than-worthwhile to do the conversion. I guess they will run the 744F show.

Do not worry about the 747400 pilots.

As said above, they most probably would find themselves in the freighter operation.

That would be a blessing.

Let me educate you here, from a perspective of having done my time as a Freight Dog in the last years of my operational life as an airline pilot.

It was a blessing. Flying cargo around the world in a retirement office as the cockpit of the 744 is, it was pure pleasure.

No gate agents babbling about late pax, no interference from cabin crew on silly issues regarding, cold or warm or anaouncements, and, you know what?

Boxes don't complain when it is hot, cold, or late.

Boxes don't complain about clear air turbulance, nor do they complain about catering service late.

When you have to divert, there are no bozo's around to hassle you on whatever and no one from company is telling you to find a cheap hotel.

No. Cargo ops is a blessing for every pilot who has seen it all and want his peace and quite.

So, do not worry abot them 744 pilots, they will grace it in the cargo world and never look back.

When their time is up in Boleh land, they just fade away to the sandbox and double their salary overnight, doing the same thing for another five or more years.

Unless, if like me, want to play golf and frequent my favorite pub to contemplate my easy life.

With best regards

A.v.S.

Thanks Cheng Kit for the list. Both VH-OEC and VH-OED had been scrapped as of last year. Now Cola-Cola cans.......I think 9M-MPB and 9M-MPO might be the next two to be flown to Roswell.

Does anyone know if those two 744 which were previously leased to Alwafeer Air has been painted back to standard MH colours!?

9M-MPD went Al-Wafeer as HZ-AWA3, was repainted to Tabung Haji + MAS' swoosh livery title, now with Eaglexpress as 9M-MPD.

9M-MPJ went Al-Wafeer as HZ-AWA2, was repainted into Saudi Arabian livery, re-registered as TF-AAD for Air Atlanta Icelandic.

9M-MPI went Al-Wafeer as HZ-AWA1, was repainted into Saudi Arabian livery, re-registered as TF-AAE for Air Atlanta Icelandic.

None of the the Al Wafeer plane was painted back to MAS' cheatline livery as far as I know, but I am open to correction.

Here is a rare picture of all three Al Wafeer B744 together at Jeddah Airport: http://www.airteamimages.com/boeing-747_HZ-AWA1_alwafeer-air_101260.html

So MAS has six B744s (9M-MPK to MPQ) doing daily LHR and SYD

Anyway 9M-MPO is probably stored in SZB and 9M-MPQ is currently doing Hajj flights

Currently 5 of them are doing scheduled services

MH might want to keep two B744s as spare aircraft for the A380. They can also be used for charters. The other four can either be leased out, sold, converted to freighters, or sent to the desert.

I saw one white 747. Docked to terminal. I think she was used for Hajj as there were a lot of pakcik and makcik in KLIA.
