How much is the airfare to RDN? My wife and I had always wanted to visit Redang but being put off by the high cost. Last we check was about the same price as BKI - HKG or TPE return.

MAHB: Passenger Movements Up 0.1 Per Cent In Oct

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said passenger movements for October 2014 increased marginally by 0.1 per cent to 6.831 million compared with 6.827 million in the same month a year earlier.

"This is an improvement after a contraction of 5.0 per cent in August and a contraction of 1.8 per cent in September," said MAHB in a statement Monday.
It added that the international sector grew by 0.7 per cent while domestic sector declined by 0.5 per cent over the same period last year.
"North Asia, Middle East and Europe sectors recorded a decline in traffic compared with last year," it said.
It added that the average load factor for international and domestic sectors eased three percentage points compared to October 2013.
Year-to-date, MAHB's traffic grew by 6.1 per cent, registering 68.1 million passengers compared to the same period in 2013.
International passengers in the period increased by 6.3 per cent while the domestic traffic declined marginally by 0.8 per cent.
Meanwhile, KLIA Main traffic declined by 4.4 per cent while traffic at LCCT/klia2 rose by 13.7 per cent.

AirAsia Group Load Factor Rises 2 Per Cent In Third Quarter

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- The AirAsia Group recorded a two per cent increase in load factor to 78 per cent in the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2014 versus the same period last year.

AirAsia Bhd, in its preliminary operating statistics released Monday, said at the group level, number of passengers carried increased by one per cent to RM10.7 million while capacity dropped one per cent, year-on-year (y-o-y).
The low-cost carrier said group fleet size now stood at 171 aircraft.
For domestic operations, AirAsia Bhd said the percentage of seats filled was unchanged at 77 per cent in the quarter under review.
"The number of passengers carried increased by 0.5 per cent, y-o-y, to 5.3 million, in line with the increase in capacity y-o-y.
"Malaysia AirAsia introduced five new international routes in the third quarter, which includes Johor Bahru - Saigon, Lombok and Yogyakarta and Kuala Lumpur - Da Nang and Cebu," it added.

AirAsia X Achieves 24 Pct Growth In ASK In 3Q14
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 (Bernama) -- AirAsia X Bhd achieved a 24 per cent growth in Available-Seat-Kilometres (ASK) to 6.36 million in the third quarter of 2014, despite significantly softer market conditions.
In a statement Monday, the carrier said the higher passenger growth was translated to above 80 per cent of the passenger load factor, as it continued to stimulate demand to fill up new capacity injected during the quarter.
However, the capacity added in the third quarter was lower than earlier planned.
"This was due to more aircraft capacity withdrawn from scheduled services during lean periods and re-deployed to charters and wet leases in other regions that generated positive margins," said AirAsia X.
In terms of quarter-on-quarter growth, the ASK grew by a mere two per cent from the 6.26 million recorded in the second quarter of 2014 2Q14, primarily contributed by the launch of new a service to Xian, China, on July 2 this year.
"The intended slower injection of capacity growth from the third quarter of 2014 onwards is to allow the previously added capacity in 2013 to mature and progress towards profitability," said AirAsia X.
The carrier achieved strong passenger traffic in Revenue-Passenger-Kilometres to 5.12 million from 4.22 million, with 1.04 million passengers carried during the third quarter of 2014, compared to 0.84 million passengers in the same period last year.
Cargo segment on the other hand, saw an improvement of 21 per cent year-on-year in total carried to 9,771 tonnes from 8,079 tonnes in the same quarter last year, with a 41 per cent load factor.
During the quarter, AirAsia X took delivery of one A330-300 on operating lease, bringing its total number of A330-300s to 21, two A340-300s, and one A330-200, which is to be returned by end-2014.
Fleet size expanded to 24 aircraft from 17 in the same period last year.

Good to see SBW continue to grow in term of passenger number, but the gap between Kota Bahru and SBW is now widening. MYY seems will lose its fifth position in the country this year to Subang and JHB.

This is the link for Australian data, includes other airlines.. looks like the loads are unfortunately not too good for MAS :( (I posted this under the wrong header)

http://www.bitre.gov.au/publications/ongoing/international_airline_activity-monthly_publications.aspx

For sure not good, 55.7%/58.1% load factors on inbound/outbound flights to Australia is deep in loss making territory!

Singapore Airlines pax down 2%, load factor also down in Nov-2014. Market remains 'challenging'

In November 2014, Singapore Airlines' systemwide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometres) declined 3.8% over last year, against capacity reduction of 2.1% (measured in available seat kilometres). Consequently, passenger load factor (PLF) declined 1.3 percentage points to 75.7%.

The market is still not recovered from MH370, MH17 and QZ8501.

And this is before the full impact of MH and D7's next round of rationalisation.
