Sultan Selangor Flew Singapore Airlines

Recommended Posts

On Wednesday, Sultan Sharafuddin left for California from Singapore accompanied by his younger brother Tengku Indera Setia Selangor Tengku Ahmad Shah, Sime Darby Medical Centre Subang Jaya specialist doctor Datuk Dr Anuar Masduki, Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Selangor Datuk Zakaria Abd Rahman and Tan Sri Datuk Seri Syed Mohd Yusof Tun Syed Nasir, a Member of the Selangor Royal Assembly.

A quoted text from STAR Online. I bet he flew the SIA ULH 345 flight to LAX eh ;)

Was on SQ211 SIN-MEL last Dec, and saw special services staff escort a rather important looking person back to JCL. According to the IFS, the Premier of Johor was onboard.

Wonder if thats going to be an issue? I mean supporting Singaporean service rather than Malaysian? Hmm....

And the Sultan Selangor actually went to USA to have a heart surgery. I thought our ministers all claim our medical facilities are just as good as the west if not better and they keep telling us not to waste money going overseas ? Hmm ...

So much for supporting Malaysian products eh ? LOL ! Poor MAS ...

Selangor Sultan To Undergo Heart Surgery In California

SHAH ALAM, April 29 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, left for the United States today to undergo heart mitral valve repair or replacement at the Stanford University Medical Centre in Palo Alto, San Fransisco, California.

The sultan will undergo the surgery on Saturday (May 2) and would be under treatment at the hospital for three weeks, said Selangor State Secretary Datuk Ramli Mahmud.

"His Majesty left for Singapore yesterday and flew to San Francisco from there at 9am today," he told a news conference, which was also attended by the sultan's private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani.

SQ flight departing around that time is the SQ12 SIN-NRT-LAX with B747, not the ULH.

I too am puzzled to why not fly direct from KL. MAS do fly on Wednesdays around 9.40 AM.

dum dum dum....

I doubt the media will make a big deal out of this, considering the recently-publicized repercussions one may endure if questioning a Sultan...

However, I'm sure a select few with relatively gigantic cajones will voice their concerns

Not necessarily will bring any problem as initially we all thought the Sultan of Selangor actually flew to LAX. A destination that MAS is serving via TPE. But now that we all know he actually flew to SFO, not LAX (see text below). So it actually made sense why he chose SIA and not MAS. SIA have 2 daily flights to SFO via ICN and HKG respectively. The one via ICN departs at 9.15am and HKG at 5.50pm. This way it means only 1-stop instead of 2-stop if he flies MAS.

Sure they won't. This is not Scandinavia  And here certainly is no United States of America ;)

Its good that the sultan gets to try other products too. Then maybe he can give some instructions to our airlines on improvement.

Are you all sure he's flying on SQ? Via Singapore to California could maybe be by UA, NW(DL), NH, JL, KE, OZ :pardon:

Surprised the Sultan doesn't use the Air Force jets.

He probably likes "Singapore Girls" too. There probably is no AVOD on Malaysian air force jet and there is no secret that many Malaysians actually think the national carrier in our neighbor country down south is much better than MAS and they all enjoy flying with them.

Oh yes. I am 99.99% sure he flew SIA as NW and UA both departs before dawn everyday while JL and NH morning flight leaves before 8.30am. KE and OZ are both out of question as their flights depart just before midnight. OZ however, is code-shared on the SIA flight to ICN at 9.15am which later continues to SFO (most probably the Sultan of Selangor was flying yesterday).

ehh.... half of the 'Singapore Girls' are Malaysians anyway. :D

Malaysian air force jets not enough range... anyway DSNR already used one, TSMY another one, & DYMM-SPB-YdPA used one to South America.... so not enough jets to use anyway. BTW, Selangor got royal jets or not ah? Sarawak got 9M-ATM. Last time Sabah's Tun Mustapha got 2 private B707s.

Ahh.... Another reason could be MH's F-class to LAX is fully booked (why didn't we think of this reason ah?).... remember the 'stimulus' thingie? :pardon:

Sultans are not entitled for RMAF jets, only Agong (King). Sultans don't "work" for the country, only for the state.

Nothing big. It just that we're feed with this support our own product/service bs, and there are 2 things here - fly SQ and operate oversea. Haha.

But personally, I don't give a sh!t about that. You have the money, you as consumer has the power to choose. Just pick whatever you think better for you. And about the Sultan using SQ, he has to transit at LAX after all if he used MH, isn't he, while he can have direct flight to SF using SQ. I think its easier to transit in SIN than LAX, no?

Too young then to know about that but I do know he tried to flirt with a close relative on board MAS first class BKI-KUL by handing out wads of M$1000 notes.

I think I saw on RTM news sometime last year the Sultan of Kelantan came back from a holiday abroad on board the BBJ. Perhaps the sultans can charter them?

2 years ago I bumped into Anwar Ibrahim and his entourage in the TG lounge at KLIA. When I got off the TG flight in BKK, I saw them getting onto an F-class buggy that was waiting to pick him up. So he was sitting upfront on my flight. Ok laa.. maybe a good explanation is that it was a code share flight with MH...

by the way, if I were a somebody in Malaysia, why would I not fly MH? Free upgrades, etc. !!
