Which airline should MH buy

Recommended Posts

Asssuming all airlines are up for grabs in Asia and Australasia, which airline should MH (Including firefy & maswings) put their foot into? Vietnam airlines (if it wishes to sell some stake) comes to mind. Also Qantas is more likely to need cash injection in the near future and hence may sacrifiice some share to foreign ownership. Whats you take guys?

Like you say, assuming all airlines are for sale. I think MH should try and take an interest in Garuda.

Their Indonesian network is one that should be fully capitalized on.

Err...ANA. They are part of Star Alliance, right? This should keep some MH customers happy. Or maybe some Chinese Airlines, like China Southern, so that can tap into China's booming domestic market.

PT Eka Sari Lorena Airlines is an Indonesian airline which is based in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. It uses Boeing 737-300 aircraft to fly from Jakarta-CGK to Palembang and Pekanbaru.

The CEO of this airline is Eka Sari Lorena Surbakti, daughter of the owner of Lorena Group, a bus operating company.

Hmm they operate public bus as well.

“We offer what is called an ‘air to door’ service, where passengers can continue to travel to their destination after stepping off our plane by using our buses.”

Lorena Group is one of the country’s most well-known bus operators.

Does this mean Enrich members will get to travel by bus for free?

Note that all indonesian cariers are banned from EU due to poor maintainance and safety record.

Aye. Buying an airline with questionable safety record may affect your own record.

Aviation Authority to Revoke Lapsed Airline Licenses

The operating licenses of dozens of airlines and charter operators, including the now-banned Adam Air, will be terminated in June if they cannot continue to provide services, the Ministry of Transportation warned on Monday.

Tri Sunoko, director of air transportation at the ministry's civil aviation department, said the ministry had warned 32 air operators — many of which did not even have aircraft — that their licenses would not be renewed if they could not prove they were operational.

In accordance with a ministerial decree on regulating air transportation, the ministry had given the airlines a year-long deadline to operate a minimum of two aircraft.

If airlines failed to meet the requirements by June, they would have to halt all operations and apply for new licenses.

Most of the airlines were based in Jakarta, with a few located in Bali.

Sunoko said that some of the airlines’ aircraft were idle and did not have flight clearance, while other operators did not have any planes at all.

Airlines that received notice from the ministry include: Adam Skyconnection Airlines, or Adam Air, which was banned from operating last year in the wake of a string of accidents; Golden Air; Asia Avia Megatama; Bali International Air Service; Eka Sari Lorena; Star Air; Air Paradise International; Indonesian Airlines Avi Patria; Bayu Indonesia; Bouraq Indonesia; Seulawah Nad Air; Top Sky International; Jatayu Gelang Sejahtera; Efata Papua Airlines; Deraya; Pelita Air Service; and Eagle Transport Services.

Chartered operators that operate airplanes with 30 seats or less are: Bali International Air Service; Nurman Avia Indopura; Buay Air Services; Prodexim; Aviasi Upata Raksa Indonesia; Adi Wahana Angkasa Nusantara; Daya Jasa Transindo Pratama; Nusantara Air Charter; Sky Aviation; Love Air Services; Pegasus Air Charter; Janis Air Transport; and Air Maleo.

Air Paradise International, which served only international routes to and from Bali, had to halt its operations in 2005 after only two years of service due to a massive downturn in passenger numbers after the second Bali bombings.

In March 2008, the government banned Adam Air after a string of safety incidents, including the Flight 574 crash that claimed 102 lives, but only after it became apparent the airline was bankrupt.

The airline was established by speaker of the House of Representatives, Agung Laksono, a Golkar politician, and Sandra Aung, who has been named as a suspect by police for allegedly embezzling Rp 2.1 trillion ($182.7 million) of the company’s money.

To be realistic, i think MAS should invest in some Chinese carriers if possible. SIA failed their bid at MU (China Eastern Airlines based at PVG), so i'm pretty sure MAS would face many problems too if they wan't to but it's always worth a try. I wouldn't invest in Indonesia because it is Indonesia. No offense.

It should by a airline in India as the market is growing or buy a UK charter company ex. Morarch as It can lend its lazy planes to them in low season and MH can take planes for high season or Haji as its low season in the UK. :drinks:

Totally agree.

Make MH a class act again with a modern fleet, great products and an innovative approach to service.

I think it's time to ditch MH F.

Make passengers want to fly a great new MH C product and improved Y class.

Berjaya Air? zero fare to Tioman Redang Pangkok.

MH doesnt need to buy berjaya air for rights to fly to tioman. It can easily do so via firefly.

Please MAS, before you buy any airline.

Get rid of your tired looking A333s :pardon:

Due to the current economic situation, a major makeover will do for the time being.

Sometimes I wonder why Malaysian companies invest in foreign ones when they clearly do not have the management expertise to make these investments work for them. Two examples I can think of are Genting and Maybank - their foreign investments cost them a lot in terms of capital and also loss making operations.

Is MAS capable of managing another airline, when it can't even sort itself out?

Also, Proton which bought Lotus. Not sure which part/department but that's another story. Hey if you drive a VW now you can put a Porsche batch on it since it's been bought over by Porsche. :p

There is a reason why Genting insist on expending out of Malaysia. This is a company where its main income derive from a casino and this is Malaysia if you know what i mean (Malays like to say "sediakan payung sebelum hujan"). They are going through a rough patch now but in times their gamble will pay off. It was risky to built a resort in the middle of nowhere too but the old man did it.

Maybank is a whole different story
