Is there a direct domestic-international transfer point, ala MTB?

Ya they have. There 2 transfer desk in klia2

At klia2, pax have to pass thru shopping mall before checkin counters and after customs is believed to be the first in the world. Unless pax allowed extra time, few pax would shop there. Given distance from city and expensive car park, doubt city folks will shop there either. With expensive rent, not sure most of the shops could survive. However, if this shopping mall is a success will be the pioneer in the industry.

Hi guys,

 

I found a very odd and strange sign at KLIA2 car park,it stated that these parking slots only for hybrid vehicle.I wonder why :sorry: KLIA2 want to introduce such a special parking slots for Hybrid vehicle?Instead many people still park in this "SPECIAL" parking slots for example as the picture shown that 2 Perodua Myvi called themself a "Hybrid Vechicle" user.As an addition for that,there is no action is taken by KLIA2 authority.

I think they are meant for hybrid car who wants to charge their battery. There should be a charging station somewhere near. As for the Myvi driver, stupidity is a disability in Malaysia.

There are a few malls that's go special parking for green/hybrid vehicles. KLCC's got a few parking lots specially for ELECTRIC vehicles with the charging station at those parking lots.

 

I think they are meant for hybrid car who wants to charge their battery. There should be a charging station somewhere near. As for the Myvi driver, stupidity is a disability in Malaysia.

 

There is no need for hybrid cars to charge their batteries. Only the electric vehicles need to do so.

Hybrid vehicles parking is sort of an incentive for people to go green and buy environmentally friendly vehicles. Unfortunately the tax break for hybrid vehicles ended last year most hybrid models are no longer sold in Malaysia.

In ZRH, if you take a train to he airport, or park in 2 of the 3 main carparks, you also have to walk through a shopping mall before check-in, and again after security. But of course , Swiss shopping malls are never as big as Asian ones.

World class facilities , but 3rd.world mentality.

I guess a lot of people still do not know what's "hybrid" means. There's no pictogram to show unlike for handicapped parking, but eventhough with descripted signs, it does not prevent selfish abled-drivers from parking on them as well. Malaysia still have a long way to go when it comes to development of the country, both economically and mentality of its people.

 

On another note, the recent break-down of the aero-train caused quite a commotion and anxieties among travellers. Back-up wasn't prompt enough, apparently.

Who's fault is it? Obviously the passengers! The airlines are also to blame for bringing in hoards of pax at a short amount of time. The KLIA management should not be held responsible for something totally under their control.

Was hoping that 'waiting parking' will not happen with KLIA2 - but i was wrong.

 

Ive seen people parking on the emergency lane between the Petronas and KLIA2 entrance.

 

Mind you - not just the rabbles of society doing this - I've seen a few Merc and Land rovers doing the same exact thing.

 

Malaysians are cheap :p

Safety fears in klia2 with bumpy taxiways, sinking aircraft parking bays

 

Safety fears have cropped up again in klia2 as taxiways and aircraft parking bays are slowly sinking due to torrential rain and impact from the hundreds of aircraft landings and take-offs at the new budget airport terminal.

 

Aviation industry sources told The Malaysian Insider that there was "ponding" or water collecting in the airport apron on Sunday after heavy rain fell over the RM4 billion airport terminal in Sepang, Selangor, two weeks after opening for business.
They also said there were reports of some AirAsia Airbus 320 passenger aircraft moving on the bumpy parking bays despite having safety-chocks to block the wheels from turning. AirAsia is the airport terminal's biggest customer.
"What happened was when brakes were released on the main wheel, the aircraft moved back due to the slope/depression. In this case, the momentum was just enough to cause it to climb and stop on the chock. The aircraft chocks that we used are as per Airbus specs.
"This has been happening every day and we have asked our guys not to be anywhere behind the aircraft when we release the brakes. It's becoming very dangerous," a source told The Malaysian Insider.
It is learnt that AirAsia is working with airport operator Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to resolve the matter although the airport had passed checks by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) weeks before it opened for business.
The new airport terminal is some two kilometres west of the KLIA main terminal. The 10,000ha of land where the KLIA is sited was previously an oil palm and rubber estate and a swamp forest, where klia2 is located.
It is understood that MAHB workers have been busy resurfacing the tarmac at the klia2 terminal after AirAsia officials complained of the soft ground conditions, and are using densiphalt – a composite paving material of asphalt and concrete, rather than just asphalt that is normally used for such areas.
One pilot filed a report to his airline saying he experienced "five depressions" on taxiway U4 at the airport.
"We have felt a very hard impact to the aircraft when taxiing at speed around 15 knots.
"Three of them are at zone wing P before the sky bridge when taxiing towards runway 33. As I remember it's abeam bay P3 & P5. The other 2 around bay Q7. Will update further if manage to taxi on U4 again," the pilot said in the report sighted by The Malaysian Insider.
The pilot also told his airline that he had been avoiding taxiway U4 since May 11 by "requesting other taxi routing from ground if traffic permits for pax comfort".
AirAsia, Asia's biggest budget carrier, provides 80% of the passengers using the terminal through its domestic, regional and international flights which adds up to 400 aircraft movements a day. The other airlines operating there include Malindo Air, Cebu Pacific Air, Tiger Airways Singapore, Lion Air and Indonesia’s Mandala Airlines.
The airport terminal, which has a capacity of 45 million passengers annually, was built to replace the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) near the KLIA cargo centre. But the project that began construction in 2009 suffered several delays due to design changes and extensive earthworks.
The budget also ballooned from RM2 billion to RM4 billion which MAHB said was due to several requests from AirAsia and other agencies. The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has queried the project delays and cost, including a RM100 million government grant for the Express Rail Link (ERL) extension to the terminal.
AirAsia had also initially refused to move in on May 9, citing concerns over flight operations and security but Putrajaya ordered the carrier to shift, saying it would stop immigration and customs checks in the LCCT after that date. – May 20, 2014.

Ermmm, hello, KLIA is an world class airport and served by 60+ airlines. KLIA themselves like to brag how many new airlines they bring in every year. They should have contingency plan in place if any services of the airport goes out of order, like emergency evacuation in case of fire. Plus this is not the first time the Aerotrain breakdown, there were many cases before. Plus again, Aerotrain went through refurbishment more recently.......

 

And don't forget this is Visit Malaysia Year.........

Rich enough to buy and rive such a huge car, but when come to paying for car parking ticket.....a 5 sen coin becomes a big as an aircraft tyre.......... :finger: :finger:

Why do people keep blaming the govt? Remember the LCCT immigration fiasco on its last day of operations? It's totally AirAsia's fault for the disproportionate number of immigration staff. It's not like the immigration department knew about the split terminal operations and didn't bring in more staff. No-one should be held responsible for mishaps as small as nearly causing hundreds of pax to miss their flights or letting false passport holders slip past our nation's main gateway ;)
