KLIA2 - New Mega Low Cost Carriers Terminal

Recommended Posts

So, the show still scheduled to start on 02 May, less than two weeks away now ?

Now that the overseeing boss who gave guarantee that the place will be ready this time round, has been so heavily engaged in more pressing matters recently

Sungguh besar 'kemaluan' DCA... Lol

If read in context of male gender, it's not too far off :)

For it must have required much 'courage' in facing the hounding by the press (the foreign ones in particular) recently :D

My cousin's hubby is one of the contractor for some of the retail shops' interior design.. And according to him.. The airport is definitely not ready by the launching date.. He said, many detailed items are not even ready.. Like handrails are not even up yet.. Ceiling boards are incomplete..

He said they probably will still launch it but its like a partial launch thingy to save face to prevent another embarrassment of delay..

Also, he said.. MAHB asked whether AirAsia and MH would accept launching and moving in this May.. AirAsia declined.. Reason being a superstitious one because the month of May might equate to Mayday.. Only MH agreed to moving in May.. And according to him, this might have caused bad luck for MH (note MH 370)..

I am happy to see the signage is ONLY in Bahasa (big) and English. That's how if should remain.

I hope they will not add other languages like KLIA. (based on number of passengers from certain countries/region? come on...)

To clarify, the signage has 5 languages : Bahasa, English, Chinese, Arabic, and Japanese.

I was going through the new charts for klia and cant help but notice that theres two different SIDs for a particular runway. Example

1) SID RWY14R Departures and SID RWY14R Right Departures

2) SID RWY15 Departures and SID RWY15 Straight Departures

Under what circumstances do you follow which SIDs? Anyone kind enough to explain this please.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) -- The Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) will be closed by May 9, 2014 to facilitate the opening of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2), said Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi.

He said klia2 was on track to be opened by May 2 with four airlines starting operations at the new airport.

"These airlines include Philippine-based Cebu Pacific, Indonesia-based Tigerair Mandala, Singapore-based Tiger Air and local hybrid airline, Malindo Air," he told reporters at Airport Cities World Conference and Exhibition 2014 here Tuesday.

He said the first flight would be at 12.30am by the low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific.

Aziz also said passenger targeted growth into Malaysia this year was 9.7 per cent and he was confident that it would be achievable despite the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 incident.

The two-day event is the global platform that provides thought leadership, best practice, innovation and high-level debate and discussion around the creation and development of airport cities.
