I believe it is the outflow valve...used to pressurised the planes when it is in the air...

 

It is the air intake for the Auxilliary Power Unit. To power the aircraft air conditioning while it is on ground waiting for passengers to board it.

I think it should be the exhaust for the APU.

 

 

it's not the APU exhaust...it's the cabin pressure valve....
