S V Choong 4 Report post Posted June 22, 2009 (edited) During our time in school, hakka was the required medium of communication, irrespective of what regulations stipulate Wife is hakka too - so it helps to understand when she mutters darkly So Sam, you too a fellow 'Si Yip loh' eh ?! Any idea from which part (Kai Ping ?) Lots of Si Yip loh around, it seems!! My wife is half Si Yip (from Kai Ping) and half Hakka (from mum's side). Between us we speak Hakka 99.9% of the time. I am the opposite of you, BC. I picked up Si Yip just so that I understand what she mutters away between her and her relatives Isaac, last time I was in KK, I tried to talk to a few locals in Hakka. Some gave me the cold shoulders by replying in Mandarin I think you didn't understand me when I talked in Hakka as well? By the way, seems like USAF C-130 Hercules comes to BKI every now and then, wonder what business they have in Sabah? Isaac 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2009 my lousy shots of KKIA - 2 months ago pic Your pictures is anything but lousy. Thanks a lot for sharing Isaac, last time I was in KK, I tried to talk to a few locals in Hakka. Some gave me the cold shoulders by replying in Mandarin I think you didn't understand me when I talked in Hakka as well? Understand everything you said to your relative when you were on the phone last time we met (sorry, didn't mean to eavesdrop ). I would reply you in Mandarin as well if you were talking to me in Hakka as i can't speak Hakka very well. Often mixed it up with Cantonese whenever i tried to show off my Hakka skill back in school which made myself looks kind of dumb. So i figured i'll just speak Mandarin ... flee 5 Report post Posted June 25, 2009 they are buying the 737-800. 35 of them infact, with options for another 20. And yes, they are replacing the 400 with the 800 The leased 738s that MH are currently using is a stop gap measure pending delivery of their own planes starting from next year. Not sure why they need these planes - maybe for crew training and familiarisation so that they can jump straight into the new fleet once they start arriving.
