Sharil Abdul Rahman 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2009 I went to LCCT to grab some food and took the opportunity to see runway 32L/14R via Jalan Pekeliling. When i was on the way to the LCCT, i witnessed a what i think was an aborted thai takeoff. Or maybe it was a landing. Also, i managed to see a what i think was a parallel usage of both runways at the same time (takeoff and landing) Is this a normal occurrence? At Air Asia hangers, i saw three 734s that i assume was with indonesia air asia. was wondering who will take those planes now that airasia is making all of their fleet a320s? Gavin Andrew David 6 Report post Posted January 24, 2009 You saw a landing In most cases , Left runway always used for landing , Right is for the departures
Ahmad M 1 Report post Posted January 24, 2009 Runway 32R is also sometimes used for landing normally when requested by MH's 737. This is when they are parked at the B gates at the MTB.

Ahmad, the plane that i saw was a Thai Airways - definitely not a MAS 734s
Gavin Andrew David 6 Report post Posted January 25, 2009 What do you mean both at the same time . I'm finding it hard to understand Do you mean Parallel Take Off's / Landings ? U saw the Thai Airways on 32L right ? so It was landing
Chaity 1 Report post Posted January 25, 2009 (edited) Allow me to add since I was spotting in KUL with other members. I was there a bit late at about 1200 when Thai A345 landed on 32L. She later took off from 32R about 1 hours+. Yesterday was a bit "unusual" on Rwy 32L. While 32L is used for arrival, some heavy widebodies did use 32L for departure. We saw Saudi 747, 2x Maskargo 747, MK A330 & CX A340 were using 32L for departure. I was hoping Pieter's KLM 747 to use 32L for take-off and gives us a stunning climb, too bad she went to 32R. From our observation, some "works" might be carried out on the front portion of Rwy 32R (near LCCT side). Possibly shorter runway 32R for heavies to take off. Perhaps those working in KLIA yesterday can shed some light. Edited January 25, 2009 by Chaity

I swore that the 345 did not take off....but then maybe i missed the rotation. I was going 'retard retard' waiting for the plane to take off Thanks for the clarification and additional info Chaity.
