Sharil Abdul Rahman 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2009 did anybody managed to capture when parallel landing mode was on? it was around...16:40 just now that i saw both 32L and 32R was used for landing. BTW, how is that determined? i know usage of 32/14 is usually because of wind and other factors, but is it the same with parallel usage?

When runway 32 in use, ATC may grant 32R arrival upon request depending on traffic. Normally runway 32R landing will be requested by MH 737 that will park at B-odd bays of the MTB due to taxi distance after landing.

KC Sim 2 Report post Posted April 9, 2009 Also, is the oil spill response plane on a fuel stop? Because i know there was a bad oilspill down under. I wonder where does the company based at.... ZS-ORA is based at Seletar Airport in Singapore. It used to be a plain Jane - all white with "EARL" painted in deep blue or black on the tail. Recently, it disappeared - that's a big deal because we hardly ever see it start its engine, let alone move or even depart - and one source said it went to KUL for a new paintjob. So perhaps this is what happened, it was caught departing in new uniform. It has since returned to standing sedately at Seletar Airport but twice in recent weeks, it has moved. Nice livery though. This aircraft is on standby 24/7 to fight oil spills in this part of the world - since the Straits of Malacca is the busiest shipping lane in the world and the bit going around Singapore is its narrowest, it was felt SIN would be the right place to base such an aircraft. The title - OIL SPILL RESPONSE - says it all. KC Sim
