reyneo 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2008 (edited) Australian, Japanese Cities To Be First For New A330 Operations 30 December 2008 Singapore Airlines will introduce its new Airbus A330-300 regional aircraft on routes to Australian and Japanese cities, progressively from end March 2009. The first of 19 new A330-300s will be delivered to Singapore Airlines by Airbus in mid-January. Initially, the aircraft will be used to complete pilot conversion, and thereafter, operate some short sectors between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore and Jakarta, during late February and March. Its full entry into commercial service will occur on 30 March 2009, and to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the commencement of Singapore Airlines flights between the two cities, the first route will be between Singapore and Brisbane. From April, services between Singapore and Perth will be progressively converted from the existing B777 operations to A330; conversion will be completed in May. The daily flight between Adelaide and Singapore will be converted by June. Also in June, following delivery of the eighth aircraft, the A330 will debut on Japan routes, with the daily service to Nagoya to be converted from B777 operations. By March 2010, the daily B777 service to Osaka will be replaced with the A330. The A330-300 twin-engine wide-body aircraft will be configured with 285 seats in two classes – Business and Economy. A new Business Class seat, especially designed for regional and medium-haul flights, as well as other cabin product features, will be unveiled when the aircraft is delivered in January. The Business Class cabin will consist of 30 seats, in a 2-2-2 configuration (distinct from the existing B777 on these routes, which is in a 2-3-2 layout). Economy will feature 255 seats, in a 2-4-2 configuration. All seats will feature the new KrisWorld, Singapore Airlines award-winning inflight entertainment system. The deployment of the A330-300 is shown below: http://www.singaporeair.com/mediacentre/pa...!1398209029 EDIT: The SQ330 seat map has surfaced! http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/Util/showP...ntName=A330-300 Edited December 30, 2008 by reyneo
H C Chai 4 Report post Posted December 30, 2008 Hey the economy class cabin layout is very similar to that of MH A330-300's. Does it mean the seat pitch is 33-34"?
Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted December 30, 2008 Hey the economy class cabin layout is very similar to that of MH A330-300's. Does it mean the seat pitch is 33-34"? The Y class seems to have virtually the same number of rows within the same space...likely to have same seat pitch as MH's 333. But J looks to be a lot more spacious than MH (it better be given the premium that SQ tends to charge on its fares).

Sandeep G 1 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 Oi... you got something against the A330s is it? Nothing at all against the 330... just the replacement of 777 services to PER with the 330.... no more 777 to PER is sad for me.
kandiah k 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 Seems like SQ is following the footsteps of MH on the A330 !!! I hope MH makes a decision soon on their replacements for the A330, B777 and B744.
Ryan Soh 3 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 Nothing at all against the 330... just the replacement of 777 services to PER with the 330.... no more 777 to PER is sad for me. The present 777 service to PER is a joke la. It is the SR series with the regional config. At least with the A330s, you will know it is a regional aircraft and the interior will have the "upgraded" regional Business Class.

leon t 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2008 at least SQ's new A333s will be way better than MH's A330s which most do not have PTVs and old interiors and seemingly poorly maintained interior planes.

Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) Any affirm date on the first ever SQ's A333 flight into KUL? A mock booking made at www.singaporeair.com last night resulted in an A333 flight for both inbound and outbound journey into SIN (for a trip in the last week of February 2009). Does anyone will be on the inaugural (commercial) flight? Edited January 7, 2009 by Mohd Azizul Ramli
Isaac 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 Based on the official SQ 333 seat map posted on SIA website, Economy Class won't feature 33"-34" of pitch like MAS 333. Just count the number of seat rows you'll know it's impossible, except for the second part of the Economy cabin which i suspect will feature a larger lavatory than those in front and there will be big closets behind seat numbered 62 A/C/H/K. However, since SQ is going to use the slimline Economy seat on their 333, the actual LEGROOM (**different from seat pitch) could be just as much as MAS 333 Economy Class. Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted January 14, 2009 I did some searching and found out that the first SQ A333 flight into KUL will be flight SQ 106 on 16 February 2009. It will arrive in KUL at 09:30 (departing SIN at 08:35). As a proceed, the first SQ A333 flight from KUL will be flight SQ 107 on 16 February 2009, departing KUL at 10:25. Too bad I won't be in town to try my luck to be on these flights. This is of course, subject to no last minute changes of aircraft.
Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 The new regional cabins revealed! iPod, iPhone connectivity & ergonomic seats for economy class Don't fancy the inflight movies or music? On Singapore Airlines' (SIA) new A330-300 aircraft, you can enjoy your own music and videos with iPod and iPhone connectivity, whether in Business or Economy class. SIA is the first in the world to offer this service in the Economy cabin, said the carrier in a news release. iPhone and iPod integration with the inflight entertainment system first debuted on SIA's all-Business Class A340-500 aircraft last year, which flies between Singapore and Newark, and Singapore and Los Angeles. The A330-300 aircraft, 19 in total, will be introduced progressively from March 2009, to replace the airline's B777-200 on medium haul routes to Australian and Japanese cities. SIA received the first jet today at a ceremony in Toulouse, France. It will make a full entry into commercial service on March 30 on the Singapore-Brisbane route. Economy seats on the A330-300 will also be new designed for ergonomic comfort, and will provide more personal space and increased legroom. Height adjustable leather headrests with side panels can be folded for head and neck support. A larger 26cm monitor will allow greater enjoyment of the inflight entertainment system. New business class seat offers enhanced levels of comfort, privacy and functionality. Business Class on the A330-300 also receives an overhaul with a brand new incline lie-flat seat. An advanced control panel will allow customers to personalise their seating preference or select from the various seat-preset options to get into a comfortable sitting, resting or sleeping position with ease. Mr Mak Swee Wah, Executive Vice-President Operations and Services, SIA, said: "The delivery of these new aircraft provides us the opportunity to enhance our product offering for customers on regional and medium haul routes. "This reaffirms our commitment to constant innovation of the products and services we offer to customers, tailored around their needs on particular flights."
