AirBorneo takes flight

Recommended Posts

According to a travel agent friend of mine in BKI, each flight has a total of 277 seats for sale in 2 classes.

Most likely it will be operated by an MH 772 (configured C-35, Y-247, Total=282, maybe 5 seats blocked off for technical)

And since MH has surpluses of unutilised aircrafts

:pardon:

Rumour said the people who are behind Air Borneo couldn’t raise enough finance or backing to launch the chartered service.

:drinks:

With the present financial situation, no surprise really.

KOTA KINABALU, Mon.:

Pilgrims in Sabah will be able to fly direct to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from here to perform their Umrah beginning May 9 this year.

AirBorneo Management and Services managing director, Edward Johann Leong, said the company will offer the service via Kuala Lumpur and will use Boeing 767-300.

"There will be stopovers in Kuala Terengganu and Kuching depending on load factor and requests from travel agents," he said at the ceremony to sign a collaborative agreement with SkyMatt Travel and Services and Saudi Arabia's airline, Tair Airways, here today.

Leong said SkyMatt specialised in arranging and organising Umrah packages for the past 15 years, while Tair Airways has played a vital role in leasing of the aircraft.

"We are excited at the prospects of helping Sabahans and Malaysians alike to conveniently travel abroad and perform the Umrah," he said.
