Air Asia X: Melbourne - KL

Recommended Posts

Cut-price airline AirAsia X has announced it is to begin new Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur flights.

The Malaysian based airline would start four new Airbus A330 return flights a week from November, the Victorian government announced on Wednesday.

Industry and Trade Minister Theo Theophanous said the announcement was great news for Victorians, for local business and international education services.

"The airline flying to Melbourne is yet another impressive aviation victory facilitated by the Brumby government - with more direct flights meaning more business, more trade and ultimately more jobs for the Victorian economy," Mr Theophanous said.

Additional flights are planned to be introduced during peak periods, moving to daily services from March next year.

The AirAsia X flights come on top of other recent newcomers to the Melbourne market, including new services by Etihad and increased services by Emirates and Pacific Blue.

AirAsia X is part of the AirAsia Group that includes carriers in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

Wonder how much is the airport tax will be. AUD 199 including tax. IF converted to RM, calculation will be

Aud 199 x 3 = Rm 597

minus Rm 99 fare

Tax total = Rm 498 one way?

Will they be using 9M-XAA or a new aircraft ? Heard that their new A330s are scheduled for delivery starting the fourth quarter of 2008.

Looks like ten minutes after the gates opened (12:10am) and Dr Naim is already on his way down south, again :D

But then, you wouldn't expect anything less of him (and contingent ?) would you ? :p

No mate, virtually had had enough of Aust - the only worthy places I've not visited there are Darwin and Alice Spring, so Melbourne is not in the wanna-visit list. Just test-test price only. :D

When you apply for the e-visa, called ETA - do it here http://www.eta.immi.gov.au/- you should get confirmation instantaneously, in most cases. If not maybe a few hours later. If still got prob, then got to visit the Aust High Commission, but that'd be rare.
