  1. seems like MH is counting the eggs before they hatch. shouldn't they make sure they are really back in the black, instead of reporting profit figures mainly from unreduced fuel surcharges, before embarking on another stage of investment? in addition, how much can they do to upgrade their fleet to match that of SQ's latest interiors on the 773ER when their last recent product upgrade was not too long ago?
  2. The screenshot looks like that of SQ's, featuring the head shot of an air stewardess. What does it really take for MAS to do something original?
  3. It appears strange to me that MH is signing this new code share flight with a relatively unknown airline, when it has not completed its turnaround plan yet.
  4. I apologise for turning this thread into something other than what the topic starter intended it to be. However, there were questions regarding this one comment I made about MH, just one comment, neither negative nor positive. Should I stress how I did not diss MH due to this accident? I think they are a great airline with very unpretentious service, and this is reflected by my NRT-KUL flights that I take when I travel to Malaysia for vacation. I did not want to report the incident because I figured it could be an isolated incident. In addition, it was a very long flight, and I just wanted to be home. As for my username, if you have the ability to change it, please do it for me. My real name is Kiyoshi Takizawa. I have no idea how to change it, and my private messages to the moderators remain unanswered. Lastly Choong, I apologise if I have offended you in anyway, it was not my intention, as I just wanted to take part in this forum to contribute in some interesting discussions.
  5. Well, it is as it has happened. I don't need to prove that it happened.
  6. I am not too sure if it is considered professional, but I personally think that it is important for one to uphold his/her level of dignity and professionalism. It did not cross my mind to complain about that air steward, as I do not like to cause trouble for people. In any case, it was one of the flights I have had a deepest impression! Neither did I think twice about taking MH, as I remembered clearly the food offered on all flights I took were nothing short of excellent!
  7. No, no. I am a male. To clear things up, but before we do, this has nothing to do with my opinion with regards to MH, it was just an isolated incident, but left a very deep impression on me. This is particularly so when I am a rather shy, who is always shocked and confused by any advances made onto me, be it from a male or a female. I was on a flight from NRT-KUL-CDG, around February 2005. On the KUL-CDG sector, it was a rather uneventful flight, since most people were sleeping on this red eye flight. An hour before landing into CDG, after the breakfast trays were cleared, this air steward came out from the business class section in front of me and gave a rather shocked expression when he saw me. I looked at him, wondering if I have done something wrong or if I knew him from somewhere. After a few seconds, he gained his composure and asked me 'Sir, are you having a nice flight?'. I answered yes, and he asked another question 'Is everything ok?'. Another yes from me, and his final question 'Is there anything I can do for you?' I declined his offer, since I was just desperate to get off the plane after a long flight. I didn't notice nor think about the incident till the flight back, from CDG-KUL about 5 days later. During that period, MH was flying 5X weekly into CDG, and due to some staff rotation schedule that I am not familiar with, I got the same crew on this return flight sector. I was walking down the aisle to my seat when the same steward saw me, and exclaimed 'Oh! You were on the same flight into Paris!' I gave him a smile, and thought he was just being friendly. But what surprised me was that he knew my name, and addressed me by my name thereafter. I have absolutely no idea how he got my name. Anyway, this flight departs Paris at about 12pm and arrives into KUL at about 7am, and a considerable length of the flight was spent in darkness. I could not sleep, so I decided to walk around the plane to kill time. As I walked past the gallery in the middle of the plane, the air steward happened to be on duty and started chatting up with me. He asked me to go into the gallery with him since he did not want to disturb the other passengers. In the gallery, I asked for some ice cream since I was feeling a little famished, and his reply shocked me, 'I'll give you some if you give me a kiss'. I was rather taken aback, and I quickly brushed that request off. He then asked me for my phone number, my preferences in guys, where I go clubbing in Paris, if I liked him (???) etc. In the end, I had to laugh his questions off, return to my seat and pretend to doze off; upon landing, I got off the plane quickly! I was not angered nor disgusted by the incident, it was just something of a different experience!
  8. Rankings of Operating Profits, by Airline 1. British Airways 2. Air France/KLM 3. Lufthansa 4. Southwest 5. Emirates 6. ANA 7. Qantas 8. Singapore Airlines 9. Cathay Pacific 10. Ryanair Source: IATA
  9. I would say All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines, for their excellent service and food. Singapore Airlines for their well rounded efficiency, standardised service and products. I like Cathay Pacific too, nothing beats their lounge at HKIA. Somehow my service encounters on Malaysia Airlines were nothing more than just normal, except one time when a flight crew constantly flirted with me in some desperate attempt to get me into bed with him.
  10. SQ does not consider MH as a huge competitor, there is a reason why SQ still charges twice the amount say, from SIN-CDG (about S$1900 after taxes), while MH goes as low as S$900 including taxes during its promotions, which are aplenty. As mentioned somewhere in this forum, MH only manages to attract a leisure market, and in airline economics, where premium traffic making up a substantial amount of profits, SQ is more worried with CX, BA, QF etc. Maybe EK, where its global expansion is driving down yields. Anyway, back to the point, I realise that a lot of posts in this forum seem to view SQ as one huge airline that MH needs to push itself past. Why not compare with oneself first?
  11. Will be flying into OSL for the first time this winter. Shall see how it is. As for Paris CDG T1, it is downright horrible and somewhat embarrassing for an international airport of a world city, but everytime I land there, I forget all the horrors as I know I am just a couple of hours from seeing the greatest city in the world!
  12. What is with the fixation on competing with SQ? SQ does not even consider MH a viable competitor. Seriously, there is some terrible inferiority complex going on around here.
  13. Favourite airports: Tokyo Narita, Osaka, Hong Kong and of course, simply the most outstanding, Singapore Changi. Can't seem to find any fault in Changi except that it gets a little crowded during peak times, but with the opening of T3, things should cool off a little. Dislikes: Jarkata, Paris T1, London Heathrow and KLIA. I have to agree that KLIA lacks soul, almost like a white elephant with so little airlines flying into and out of the airport. I remember sitting there looking at the planes on the runway, and could only see some Air Asia planes taking off, with one or two Malaysia Airlines planes. In addition, staff are rather rude, and nonchalant, I wonder how they want to catch up with SIN with an attitude like that.
  14. Looks like there is another reason to take SQ to CDG and not other airlines... If there is any consolation to the Malaysian forum members, MH is very competitvely priced from Singapore, and I know of many people who choose to fly with MH.
