  1. It's easy to make jokes but until we know the cold hard facts, it's not fair on the crew concerned. What I would like to know if ground crew were present to check the wing tip clearance during push back, start-up and initial start of taxi.
  2. I think it's wise not to have IFE/PTV on aircraft that will operate domestic flights as they are mostly under 60 minutes with the exception of flights between the peninsular and Sabah/Sarawak. IFE systems add weight to an aircraft and makes more sense to only have them on regional flights. Drop down TV screens along the aisle is more practical for these short flights if you really MUST have an IFE system for safety demo etc.
  3. Nice change. Thanks for the coverage
  4. Here are some close up shots of the model. The final building some minor changes. There is now an access ramp to the underground car park from the front and the open air alfresco cafe area isn't there. The new area will be much welcomed by travelers as the current landside area is warm and stuffy
  5. The PM launched the Aero Mall at Senai Airport this morning. While it's completed the tenants have yet to move in. I understand it would be operational this 1st of June. Passengers both arriving and departing will have to pass thru the new extension to the terminal. As the pictures will show it's follows the current trend of using steel and glass in it's design with alot of natural light which is a stark contrast to the old building which is dark and dingy. A view of where the taxi and bus stands and on the right of the picture will be the private car pick up area This is the view as you enter the main door. Arrival is to the right and departure the left. Info counter. The large metal "drum" to the right is the aircon vents. View of the arrival area. The taxi and bus counter in the background with a KFC on the right. Looking outwards to the main porch and doors. View towards the Departure area from the arrivals.
  6. I heard the A380 will most likely start in the winter schedule. The EK lounge at KLIA is going to be renovated soon to increase capacity by an additional 150pax.
  7. The Editor of that story got carried away. it should be SUKHOI TO MAKE AIRCRAFT COMPONENTS IN MALAYSIA. A few composite parts do not equal a fighter jet.
  8. Below from MH and EK A statement from MAS said the following flights were disrupted: - Kuala Lumpur–London (MH4), which departed Kuala Lumpur 10.00am Thursday will not be landing in London but will be diverted to Frankfurt with estimated arrival at 2.15pm local time. - Kuala Lumpur–London flight (MH2) and Kuala Lumpur–Amsterdam (MH16) departing at 11.45pm and 11.55pm respectively Thursday have been delayed until further notice. - London–Kuala Lumpur flight (MH3) has already departed London and is expected to arrive in Kuala Lumpur on schedule. - Amsterdam–Kuala Lumpur flight (MH17) already departed and is also expected to arrive in Kuala Lumpur on schedule - Kuala Lumpur-Frankfurt (MH006) will be departing on schedule at 11.50pm Thurday. Affected connecting passengers in Kuala Lumpur on tonight's flights to London and Amsterdam will be given a one-night accommodation. The following Emirates services to UK today (15April) are cancelled due to airspace closure affected by volcanic ash clouds movement across UK and Northern Europe: London Heathrow EK29/30, EK003/004, EK005/006, Manchester EK17/18 and EK19/20, Newcastle EK35/36, Gatwick EK009/010, Birmingham EK39/40 & EK37/38 and Glasgow EK27/28.
  9. Those profiles are a joke. A lot of words that really tell you nothing. The only fact there is that they are caterers. So from catering kenduri kahwin they now run an airline.
  10. I believe that FY was in discussion with the former PR lead administration on some kind of start up subsidy to operate out of IPH.
  11. This debacle is another example of the patronage system in this country, where ability is secondary to political connections. Unless the owners steps back and appoint professional airline managers, this airline will fail. This airline is an insult to the thousands of dedicated and professional men & women in the local aviation industry. Around the world, history has shown that for every successful airline, there are dozens that failed. It takes very special people to create a successful airline. It's more than just leasing a plane and taking-off. I come from Ipoh and I truly believe Ipoh needs a small commuter airline to connect it to hubs using suitable aircraft. Even an ATR72 is too big a plane in terms of capacity for Ipoh.
  12. Maybe it's time we start a poll on how long they will last? My bet 6 months
  13. As far as sales is concerned it's an up grade of more than 100 seats. I understand what you mean as I too have been squeezed in the EK 777
  14. The flight will be up-graded to B777 in July.
  15. That what i don't understand. When I meet people from MH, they just put down Airasia, always making jokes about them. Wake up! Stop living with your past glory. You are judged by what you do NOW and let's be honest, you're hardly making money, fly old planes with dated cabins, the inflight service standard is way off from you main rivals, you have a shrinking network and have become the butt of jokes. I would say I'm not impressed with MAS and proud of Airasia, a local company that is innovating and changing the landscape of aviation.
  16. While green is not my favorite colour, it does make the EY cabin look more spacious and airy compared to the black/red of the present cabin. Here are more photos this time taken from the AK facebook page.
  17. A Facebook friend has just posted these shots of the new Premium Seats and EY seats for D7 Thank you to Merlin for the photos
  18. The New Promo fare is now available RM1849 Nett return! What are you waiting for?
  19. Check online over the next few days. It's going to be the best deal on this route.
  20. Look out for another special fare from KUL to MEL from EK. Must book before 31 March for travel up to July 30 around RM1,600 return (airport tax excluded but all other fees included) Should be available starting in a day or two.
  21. I believe the introduction promo fare would be about 20-30% off that price you quoted. So my source said wait a bit longer........
