Woah! Never knew Air Asia X flies to Kuching under Air Asia?

Woah! Looks like 9M-AJG is tailed heavy from the photo.

Are the A330 & B777 charter flight? I thought MAS no longer bring in the bigger birds to Kuching?

Is this B777-200 a special flight? Very rare nowadays to see heavies in KIA.

If this is true, then it has really been a tragic year for MAS & Malaysia. 2 commercial aircraft lost in the space of a few months! My heartfelt condolences to all the families!

Yeah I was there too this morning. Surprise to see huge number of people there. I was number 3800+ something to check in around 11:30am. Quite a lot of stuffs still need to be sorted out. International arrival will be a long, long walk. Then up the escalator, through the sky-bridge, down the escalator & lastly down another escalator just to get to immigration. Furthest gate takes about 20 mins to get to from the satellite building after the sky-bridge.

Anyone going for the public opening day this 27th? I'm planning to be there to see for myself the RM4.5 billion terminal!

Prayers to all families of those involved. We should not speculate as this will not help those in pain at the moment wondering what has happened to their loved ones. We should support them in prayers. Sad day indeed for Malaysians.

I heard before they had intention to turn KLIA into a space hub! So maybe in anticipation one day they may have space ships landing in KLIA.......

Gavin, which airline own this particular simulator, or it is Airbus'? Wish I have the chance to fly in one of these.

So sad! Then we'll have less choices to fly KCH-SIN route.

Hopefully after casting my vote when I'm flying back to KL will at least get a either A330 or B747 upgrade from B737-800...fingers crossed

Not sure but the whole flight the engine has not even been brought to a lower rpm even when we were descending. It just sounds like he kept the enigne at high rev than what I'm used to when coming in for landing at any airport. By the time the plane slowed down sufficiently, we were at the point where it is the middle of the terminal building. The roughest landing I've experience was at KLIA when the captain just throw the plane down & there was a big thump! It was only a Boeing 737-400 with goof weather.

My flight back to Kuching from KLIA last night was somewhat scarry. I've never felt scared before from all the flyings even when I was a little child. The captain of the MAS flight was coming in too fast & right after touching down, he kept the reverse thrust blasting away for a long while to bring the plane to slow down. I saw the captain on the way out of the plane & had wanted to tell him that. I think he must have felt guilty of having done that & came out of the cockpit to say good-bye to the passengers. Not sure how the other passengers feel, as usual they all just wanted to vacate the plane as quickly as possible. My last flight back with AirAsia, the captain did not even need to use the reverse thrust after landing. Hmmm.......

Really hope there would not be major issues when the terminal is operational. I think we can expect slight hiccups here & there with a project of this size. I can't wait to experience this new terminal. Cannot stand the current 'tin can', with overcrowding, inefficient air-conditioning & so forth.... I'm also curious to know how planes will take-off & land? Current mode is mostly take-off 32R & landing 32L. With the new 32L, will that change? So 32L/14R will become 32C/14C?

Peoples' attitude is what contributes to issues like poor maintenance of public facilities. Unfortunately, there are Malaysians who would 'trash' public facilities & could not be bothered of taking good care of them. It is just so sad. Those are our taxpayers' money that are wasted.

My house is in Taman Hui Sing, but have not stayed in Kuching for the last 8 years. But it is nice to know spotting activities is alive & kicking in Kuching thanks to you! If I'm back for longer period , maybe we can go spotting together.

LeeTz, where do you do your spotting? Was it the road near to Hibiscus Court?

I can't wait for the airport to be operational! The link bridge looks like a good place to do spotting while waiting for filght.

In the past I remembered MAS used to fly the wide body jets to Kuching...B747-400 & the combi, A330 & MD-11 when they still have it. No longer any sight of these jets coming to KIA.
