  1. video footage of 9M-MNF in NRT. I was totally not aware of MAS sending A380 to Syd this morning until checking flight radar? What's the occasion?
  2. Here's a picture from airliners.net http://www.airliners.net/photo/Malaysia-Airlines/Boeing-777-2H6-ER/0561322/L
  3. https://twitter.com/AbuXainab debris from Maldives pictured on twitter.
  4. https://twitter.com/creissen/media This guy has found more bottles and some of them look crushed. Can only think of those poor passengers and crew on board.
  5. on that topic, can you bring an empty bottle on board at KUL? I managed to do that at SYD. If that was consumed on board at high altitude then one would expect it to be shrivelled to some degree due to pressure changes.
  6. http://www.news.com.au/world/new-evidence-in-mh370-search-as-reunion-island-officials-ignore-malaysias-pleas-for-help/story-fndir2ev-1227468553512 just in from down under. Anyone think this plastic bit looks like it's from a plane? CM is right about Australia, our news just relentlessly chases articles that will sell well or get the most clicks.
  7. I was speaking to FA on the A380 from HKG-KUL, she told me that one of the reasons why the wau flipped to the right was due to "feng shui". Interesting idea since that FA was not chinese herself. It's one of those funny changes, there were no explanations for it and suddenly overnight the website had a blue wau that just turned around and got a bit slimmer. Then weeks later it changed back to the red and blue colours. Other airlines gave explanations for why they modified their logos eg Qantas changing the roo so it would fit on the A380 (IIRC) On that topic, a lot of airlines that are profitable had their logos or emblems facing to the right. Airlines with interesting financials mostly had their logos symbolically facing to the left eg. TG, MH.
  8. http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/mh370-reports-a-plane-door-has-been-found-on-reunion-island/story-fnizu68q-1227466871662 ok sorry for spamming this discussion thread, but picture released in that article. Anyone think it's from a plane?
  9. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-08-02/mh370-new-debris-reportedly-washes-up-on-reunion/6666620 metal piece now reported...
  10. it's quite amazing that not everyone was on alert about debris on Reunion, even the guy who reported the flaperon had to google and find out about MH370. As for the guy who found the seat, it's very nice he's come forward but unfortunately he burnt the evidence and can't claim to be the first person to hand anything in. All this makes me wonder, are investigators doing enough to tell the relevant authorities of countries to be on alert for missing plane pieces?
  11. Very proud of Julie Bishop, she's a fierce woman and didn't mince her words directed at Russia. Russia sure has done a lot of explaining: denial, brainwashing their citizens, fabricating alternative theories (aka lying) and now veto-ing (it's not a word)... if they have nothing to hide why are they doing all this? As someone else said, they are guilty. Today the bird eats the ants, but when the bird dies, the ants eat the bird. We may not see justice yet but those who live by the sword die by the sword.
  12. http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2015/07/30/suitcase-found-near-possible-mh370-debris so sorry, see if this works
  13. Australian news just reporting a suitcase found nearby http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2015/07/30/suitcase-found-near-possible-mh370-debris
  14. it's very odd how Malaysia Airlines ended up with so many variations in their livery through a combination of three liveries and two wau (this excludes the retro jet livery). I can't remember secondary mathematics of permutations and combinations, but with old livery, swoosh livery and special livery for A380, add to the re-styled wau it is an extreme mish mash for the airline (particularly when the stylised wau looks different and positioned differently on the A380, A330 and B737). Talk about the level of consistency, it's much more varied than Qantas change in the Kangaroo (yes even Qantas has planes flying around with old style roo today) There is so much talk about rebranding after major disasters, but come to think of some airlines with previously bad incidents have remained in their current livery today: notably KE, CI, AF wonder if MH can change back to the old wau like JAL did with from the red tail back to the crane. Anyways, they've got more things to be concerned about...
  15. This villager has such a heart mourning for the passenger that fell through her house. She puts it well saying what were those people guilty of? They were just travelling on a plane. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-33549464
  16. This is the link for Australian data, includes other airlines.. looks like the loads are unfortunately not too good for MAS (I posted this under the wrong header) http://www.bitre.gov.au/publications/ongoing/international_airline_activity-monthly_publications.aspx
  17. the loads for MAS don't seem to look good in Australia This is the Australian government website where there is month by month data. Looks like some airlines like CX are better with utilisation of seats. http://www.bitre.gov.au/publications/ongoing/international_airline_activity-monthly_publications.aspx
  18. It's great to see some Australians still so supportive of MH. Have met many Australians willing to give MH a try and have found it exceeding their expectation. http://www.businessinsider.com.au/review-plane-speaking-malaysia-airlines-business-class-sydney-to-kuala-lumpur-2014-11/#contents
  19. Things have changed a lot at Cathay...
  20. http://www.traveller.com.au/is-it-ok-to-discipline-another-persons-child-on-a-flight-10ja5q This is an article posted in the australian Traveller website. The writer says the flight was from SYD-KUL, and it mentioned there were seat back television. I suppose the writer flew on MH... is there anything flight attendants can do to assist? (all I can gather is that it sounds like the child was not interested in IFE). I was lucky flying on the red eye SYD-KUL, no child tantrum only that the kid next to us vomited in the dark. The mother used the blankets to cover it and didn't tell any of the crew about it...
  21. Hope the loads pick up again, my colleague just booked with MH and some customers I spoke to were offered to cancel their flights by MH earlier and they decided to stick with them. Some Australians still trust to fly with MH but hope the photos don't reflect the loads on all routes... http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/higher-commissions-fewer-passengers-the-struggle-to-save-malaysia-airlines-deepens/story-e6frfq80-1227032981979
  22. I don't know what there is to like about them changing the livery. As I posted regarding the change of the uniform, a new livery is probably the least of management's concerns. Don't forget changing a livery or branding image costs money. For example the University of Sydney, a change of the logo was massive cost in just a little exercise to change the image on examination papers, signs, stationary and campus vehicles etc etc (the list is too exhaustive) - in fact a lot of people have criticised management for blowing a big dent in the budget for hiring a company just to redesign a logo at University of Sydney. In fact the University of Sydney is actually lacking funds to support operations that it is now cutting staff... It's a real disappointment by MAS. Changing a livery for the 2nd time in only recent times, it is a waste of money to contract designers and who knows, it may actually be for the worse like JAL, which ended up changing back to their original livery. If MAS was smarter, they'd be looking at the bigger picture not the external livery.
  23. Hey ericchai, totally agree with your comment. The kebaya of Malaysia airlines cabin crew is iconic like it is to SQ... there is nothing wrong with it and I think of MAS had it's priorities right, the uniform of the MAS flight attendants would be the least of their very concerns! The current preview leaked on the latest issue of Going Places makes me think they look like Garuda attendants... apparently September is when they are launching it. Hope they change it back!
