  1. Even when TF put jibby on his plane just before the elections, and then had to shamefully backtrack after BN lost - the current government has allowed him to thrive. The whole point of it is that he should have made KUL the connecting hub for the whole Air Asia group. It would have worked. Even channel passengers from Europe via KUL elsewhere. But he wanted to control everything, everywhere ....so now hes neglecting his base airline. Sad story. Even with his Labu labi airport, he would have done the same.
  2. I dont know that Thailand is so much better than Malaysia - we are not doing the promotions enough. Tourism ministry has been squandering their money on other things. If you compare with the early 2000s, there is hardly any promotion in U.K. and Europe. This is where you get the higher yielding tourists. Even now Philippines and Vietnam are so much better at tourism promotion on social media.
  3. Ive flown thomas cook A330-200 from MAN to MCO... flew premium economy one way and economy the other. The recline was not great but it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be! The crew were great and the food was alright. It was cheaper than VS and BA
  4. Oh yes, I remember it so clearly! The good old days with single runway operation!
  5. Why do you say Condor is stopping flights to KUL?
  6. Im not sure that is right. The figures I read online are that total trade between Malaysia and Germany are around EUR14 billion similar to EUR14 billion for Singapore. https://www.destatis.de/EN/Themes/Economy/Foreign-Trade/Tables/order-rank-germany-trading-partners.html?__blob=publicationFile
  7. So much for Uncle Tonys promise of a proper hub in KUL. I was hoping for more European flights from KUL which is sorely lacking in connections to Europe.
  8. Wow, so scary. Ive seen a few MAX-8s parked in Dublin airport (Norwegian)
  9. From airlineroute.net: Turkish Airlines increases Kuala Lumpur flights from June 2020 By Jim Liu Posted25 July 2019 04:00 Share this article Turkish Airlines from June 2020 plans to increase service to Malaysia, announced by the airline and opened for reservation last week. From 09JUN20, Istanbul Kuala Lumpur service will increase from 7 to 11 weekly, on board Boeing 787-9 aircraft. 10. Chris - I dont know the figures for O&D vs connecting traffic between SIN and CGK. I always assumed that the wealthy Indonesians loved going to Singapore to connect elsewhere (on top of those going to Singapore for business/leisure). Do you know that for a fact? Even if there werent as many travelling to KUL as O&D, I felt that MH could have positioned itself a bit better as an airline connecting Indonesia to the rest of the world.
  11. Well, SQ has an even larger domestic market, Indonesia! MH did not see that in the early days while SQ moved in slowly and surely! Huge population and a growing middle class. This is why they have a first class service on their multiple daily flights to cGK! Retrospectively its easy to say, I know, but hell, its a no brainer.
  12. Well, they hastily cut their European routes which, albeit was loss-making, fed into their network at the other end. Now they have nothing coming from Europe apart from LHR. They then decided to collaborate with EK for their European flights. We realised that was a problem after our dear CM destroyed MH in Europe and the ran off to work for EK! Then their misplaced strategy of concentrating on China to Australia flights .... look at how many airlines and P2P routes there are, just with Chinese and other Far Eastern carriers. MH is not the only one - it already has a bad reputation in China following the unfortunately loss of MH370. I keep repeating this because I feel this has been a huge mistake. But who am I apart from another keyboard warrior. Ive supported our national carrier so much for the past 30 or so years but I dont know now. Its perhaps time to sell them off so that they can be managed efficiently as a private concern, rather than allowing them to be milked to death by politicians. Shutting it down and restarting is not going to work as long as it remains a GLC.
  13. What about basing them in KUL, their supposed fly to connect hub or whatever its called? Oh well. Money talks and bull walks
  14. Yay, NCL will be one! I will be there!
  15. 😂😂😂😂😂
  16. Thanks Jani, but waiting for the more qualified ones to apply first! 😂
  17. Hahaha, great opportunity for us, the keyboard warriors! Come on then...
  18. MH is essentially like Aer Lingus - heavily beaten by competition including a large low cost carrier based at your home hub. Now it has retreated to a regional Carrier with a couple of long haul routes. Hope that things work out but I have been hoping for the last 28 years
  19. Well, it is a big ridiculous for CX - they fly to the rest of ASEAN with their Cathay Pacific brand but Malaysia is singled out for Cathay Dragon. Yes, we are price sensitive but I find it hard to believe that a relatively affluent country (compared to Vietnam, phillipines etc etc) cant sustain a CX service. Maybe AK was too successful in lowering costs to these current levels? I dont know...
  20. Finally!! It feels a bit sad KL has been given a rough ride with some of the older aircraft by etihad, Turkish and Qatar.. (although QR has 24 weekly services)
